Anyone know what size exhaust tips to get to fit OEM mufflers?

Do you match the pipe size for the tips, or do you go a size larger so it fits over.

No clue how it works. Thanks

I went larger, and welded the new tips directly to the muffler, over a 1" stub that was the original tip neck.

I take it that means the tips were long enough to align with the bumper while also hitting the muffler, seems pretty lucky that they were perfect length, unless I'm misunderstanding something (likely).

Kinda thought that the existing tips would be cut off and replacements would be welded in their place on whatever "exit" pipe is on the muffler, perhaps not thinking it through accurately...

What size "inlet" did you go with?

You are. The tips were crazy long, like 18". My mechanic measured, cut, shaped and welded the ends at the muffler for a perfect fit. He's pretty skilled at that stuff.

3.5" diameter, single-wall SS, 45* slash cut Magnaflows. With hindsight, I should have gone with a double-wall. All of which will be behind me in a couple of months, when I start all over again with a new cat-back/tips. Might keep the the Sebring tips, might not. IDK yet.

Hm OK, do you recall the dia of the 1" stub that was attached to the muffler? Seems the "inlet" (meaning the muffler side of the tips) would need to be a fairly close match.

I agree the tips you have are not very substantial looking, perhaps the exhaust system upgrade is just the opportunity for a second shot

Nope. But I still have one of the OEM tips as a book end. Just measured the inner pipe at 2.5".

In this case, the inlet was the whole tip, so at 3.5" there was all the room in the world to line it up perfect to the bumper cut-out. So that was nice.

Those tips are not appealing to me at all, in fact they're at the opposite end of the spectrum from your a/m one (too thick vs too thin, innuendo notwithstanding)

Need to find a healthy balance, which is achieved nicely by those "Red Tail Performance" tips that I've posted up before

I could get behind that point. But last time I went down this rabbit hole, I came away thinking Red Tail didn't have a model tip that has the same or larger diameter inlet as the Sebring tips FI uses, with a length that would extend it out far enough.

Figure I'll be spending time exploring this more when the catback arrives. It's been 4 weeks since placing the order... so probably another 4 weeks, give or take.
