Oh, but it isn't at all sad. It's all good, actually.
I have exactly the car I want, right now. The condition, the design, the low miles, the way it's been modified so far... it's all come together into a sweet-spot of awesome. With ample plans to modify it throughout the full lifetime of ownership.

I'm torn for my future options. Go all in on something like a M3 in a couple years, or drive my G till the wheels fall off, but supplement it with a toy car, such as a 911 or V10 M6. Of course the maintenance of those concerns me. Somewhere in between would be a 5.0, ZL1, or mu wifes favorite, a SRT8 challenger.
It's a fun mental exercise, but for now, I'm immensely happy with the G, and am in no hurry to replace it.

In that same context, (where I'm thinking of a 3-4 year old Cayman S), a 3 year old Jaguar F-Type R Coupe might be equally awesome. Maybe even more so. Um, maybe 4-5 year old.

I love the look of the F-types and the reviews have been very good overall, but considering Porsche is at the very top of recent reliability rankings and Jags have always come up short in that regard that would weigh pretty heavy. I'm still licking the wounds from that BMW experience so if I go in w/ a 3 year old Cayman (or F-type) it would be on my dime in a pretty short time. I'd be on the verge of retirement (and the fixed income that goes along w/ that) just about the time I'd be out of warranty so it's a lot to consider.

I have my eyes set on a Tesla Model S. Been researching it since college for my thesis before it even came out. Still too expensive for me but do have some stock in the company. Really happy with my G Sedan at the moment and it wont be going anywhere soon.
P.S. I finally switched out my stock 17" with Conners 18" Sport wheels and my god what a difference! Also switched out my stock HID to 6000k From Diode Dynamics with 6000k Parking lights and amber fog lights. I am in love with my car again (never hated it).

I washed mine yesterday. She's a pretty b1tch when clean it turns out...
Ordered hardware kits for the brakes and as soon as I get the $4k in expenses I just submitted back I think I'm going to break down and get the calipers swapped out. And... You know... Since it'll be in the shop may as well give it a drop on Swifts and install the FTSB. Then, you know, that will be it. Until the next mod.

I went out to pick up some lunch just now, and was driving home on a local road... 2 lanes of busy traffic each way, with a center lane and stoplights every few hundred feet. I noticed a black Mercedes in my rear view mirror, darting in and out of cars. He raced ahead of me, then cut in and hit the brakes. I mean, where was he going to go? Did he not see the a long line of cars stopped at the light?
So with my hands on the wheel, I gestured to myself palms out in a "what the heck?" manner. He must have been watching me, because out comes the arm and the one-finger salute. So I did my best "Lookout, we got a badazz!" happy hands, and BAM! out comes the finger again. Then another out the sunroof. It's like he was having an epileptic fit, LOL.
It made me laugh, partly because... well, srsly, what was he going to do? But mostly I laughed because if you want to be a badazz, then you need to come at me with something more worthy than a CLA 250.
