That rear carbon fiber is way too much, dont like it.

To me Audi and MB are the only makes that seems to be going in the right direction in terms of design. BMW and Lexus are overdoing it and slowly killing off their customer base. Infiniti still has a lot to prove so only time will tell.

It's always been like this. Factory performance kits/editions always cost more than aftermarket. But with factory cars you get warranty and literal turn-key functionality.

Lexus, yes. Audi, wha?. Benz, it's optional. Infiniti, S&M prop? It's probably the most identifiable and stand out feature in a F1 car.

I agree that the CF is a bit much. Would have been much better if it were painted until the lower crease, and then CF the rest w/ a more pronounced rear diffuser (much like the FX SV edition).

I also agree with your assessment of Audi, MB, BMW, and Lexus. Infiniti shouldn't really need to "prove" anything, but rather they should be able to do whatever the F they want. It's hard to be your own brand when you #1 selling car is pretty much a direct derivative of your larger, lower-priced parent (G vs. Altima/Maxima). Infiniti needs to be more bold (and I think they have with the Q50), but also keep in mind their target market. Mazda is a good example of a company that has done a really good job in this regard.

Here are some additional pics as posted on autoblog.com: Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge portends seriously powerful future sports sedan - Autoblog.

And a statement from Johan de Nysschen: "If we built this car I would expect it to feature over 500 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. The engine we are evaluating for the Q50 Eau Rouge is a big personality, V-cylinder engine with forced induction."

They STILL didnt cover the damn cup holders in the console?

Pretty disappointing from something expected to be a $70K+ car

And the "if we build this car"...I thought they WERE building this car?

AAAND, its gonna need quite a bit of that 500+ HP to roll those 21s, y0.

I think the concept of a concept car has eluded most of the posters in this thread. Much like the car itself.

With the way Infiniti has been talking about it/hyping it up, I really didnt think it was a CONCEPT car, but you are right, it still seems to be in concept-mode.

Im used to concept cars (even Infinitis) having way out there design, style, etc. This looks so close to an actual Q50 it doesnt really seem like a concept.

I get what you're saying. But just because it's a production ready concept of a current model and not a one off, way out, futuristic looking thing like the Essence or others, doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be a full production model. However I think it will in some form as a limited edition version (e.g. Vettel Edition FX) of the Q50 so that they can gauge the direction to go in for the future based on it's reception and sales. Just my guess.

The Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Will Have 500 Horsepower 'If' They Build It

Quote form JDN
"If we built this car I would expect it to feature over 500hp and 600lb/ft of torque. Through our various alliance partners we have access to a range of engines featuring this performance capability which, with a fair amount of engineering effort, can be developed to exhibit Infiniti character and accommodated within the Q50 engine bay. The engine we are evaluating for the Q50 Eau Rouge is a big personality, V-cylinder engine with forced induction. I think our engineers have been waiting for a project like this."

Dat steering wheel...

OK, the part about having access to a 500HP/600TQ FI engine through our various alliance partners... does anyone else interpret that to mean AMG biturbo power under the hood? Which one?

I finally got to drive a q50 was impressed.
The materials used on the trim are 10 steps above the old washi trim.
It's made to be rattle free, they have a more machined feel to it.
Just would be nice to at least have a forced induction option.
Be it turbo or supercharged.

Wow, BBK with possible brake ducting... I'm genuinely curious in this car. Might actually be a performance car, instead of the current "sporty" car.
