The blackview DR500GW has some really great features, expecially the wifi but lacks in video bitrate compared to the Lukas 7900 ace.

Can anyone confirm if the latest firmware increases bitrate for the DR500GW?

The video bitrate causes blockyness confirmed by this video here:

I have the Blackvue DR500 and love it..i bought an additional power cable from ebay and hard wired it.

How is the video quality? Any blockyness? Was that fixed with newer firmware? Can you read license plates? Those were some of the complaints with that camera.

quality is 9/10...
and as long as you have it positioned and aiming right... you can read plates... key is not to point it up too much...
the lower the better, that way it doesn't keep adjusting because of the sky!!!

think im set on this one Mini-review of the BlackVue DR400G-HD II Dash Cam but now to keep it runing?? hmmmm, how would i hard wire it to the battery? anyone done this

They have an ingition box that you can set battery voltage to shut off so it wont kill the battery and you can set for record length after the car is shut off. I have the DR550HD with wifi. Not sure if the box works for the 400. Its a great camera.
