No stick.......man..... bummer... I've always driven a stick. I cannot imagine a car without one......guess I will have to.... I guess I will just have to borrow my husband's Miata and get to the twists....

While I agree there are some issues with the Germans and the high cost of maintenance and repairs, it is nothing that is going to break you. But having both Infiniti and Audi in the garage, I can say, at least in my experience, that the Infiniti is no economy car either. Maintenance and repairs can creep up equally. My Infiniti has been to the dealers for more issues than the Audi. The difference between the 2 is not significant IMO, and it is worth it for purely a more satisfying driving experience.
It does seem that things are going in the right direction the last 5 or 6 years though as German reliability seems to be improving, especially on the lower end cars. The flagship models of most every German make seem to have so much tech and are always trying to one-up the other makes that reliability takes a back seat to technical wizardry.

You may still be able to find 2013s on some lots w/ 6AT, might be worth it to expedite your search a couple months if you want it to be new. I think you'd be very happy for a long time w/ that 2013 S 6MT, especially since those days are over for the sedan (at least for the next couple years it seems )

I bought my 2011 with 3,900 miles on it and 3 years left on the warranty. Easily lopped $6k off depreciation for a car what was only driven a couple months.

Yup, injectors, plugs, powers steering pump, and the fuel pump would have been 4.3k without warranty. Given that car is only worth 26k, that is a large number that could break someone. All I am saying is the q50 makes the jump to a germ a little more enticing.

I looked at the Q50 and the G37 and ended up leasing the G. The Q was nice but I didn't like the steering (wandered), the ride was nice and handled good but the G just felt better. I drove the Q with the drive by wire first and then just the Premium and then drove the G and felt the G was a better deal.

They made a serious mis-step IMO. They had to know people who buy these cars are looking for a drivers car not an electronic chauffeur. They need to come with a twin turbo v6 with some serious power or a better way to put it down because I want to compete with Audi S4 and the 335, not the 328 or the A4.

I would not trust other people break the car in for me, not a chance. If you saw how the people before you drove the car as a loaner, demo, etc, you would not see yourself owning the car after all those abuses.

These days most car dealers will tell you there is no break in period to have you avoid driving it like a granny intially because people associate break in periods with driving very conservatively which is not recommended.
As for that CR report. I don't think they even drove the cars. Sounds like they were taking snippets from other reviews and somehow got totally confused with the IS review. Vague steering? Not sure what that's supposed to mean but the IS was praised everywhere for its steering feel across all the IS models so that makes no sense. And with the Q50, a big complaint what that it was too quiet. Never read any reviews that complained about undue road noise and most bemoaned the fact that it was a quiet, sedate ride and there was no engine note whatsoever. And exactly what does the term "doesn't ride well" mean? Are they talking about comfort? Handling? I don't think they even know.
CR reviewing new cars has little cred because they specialize in assessing the long term value of cars which is obviously hard to determine at this stage of a new model. CR should stick to reviewing new products like toasters because I would take that more seriously from them than I would with new cars. Unfortunately most buyers take them more seriously than they should with new reviews. It is much more valuable as a guide for evaluating older cars.
