Is MPG that much better on RWD than AWD Gs?

2 of those G's in their DB are mine
My G37S 6MT (Infiniti G37) | Fuelly
My G35x (Infiniti G35) | Fuelly
Which one is yours?

I drive my G relatively hard... aggressively going into ramps and coming out of corners, and digging deep into each gear for the love of driving a RWD 6MT....
So I get 18 MPG. And I don't care, because the only reason I know about mileage is that the damn screen puts it in my face. By my way of thinking, the G37 is a mileage inefficient car, and most people know that before buying one.
Getting good mileage on this car is pointless. Bragging about it is coo-coo for cocoa puffs.

I just connect with the older crowd more. Maybe thats how I ended up seeing the 38 year old I'm seeing now...but thats another thread
To contribute though...I'm gonna reset my trip tomorrow but I dont believe I've ever seen it past 18.1
Telcoman...I dont know I think he works for tornado or something because I just dont get how he does what he does

but why?
It's not hard to get great economy by hypermiling, but to do that all the time with this particular vehicle would be a real shame. Fuelly displays the amount that would be saved by achieving 1, 2, 3 mpg more than your last fill-up, and to me it is worth those few bucks to drive and enjoy this car as intended. If all I wanted to do is feather the throttle on long, straight highway journeys, I would have bought a VW TDi and seen 40+ mpg without trying. Meh, to each his/her own...
Data compiled by sites such as Fuelly could help answer OP's question if transmission type is an available discriminator.

I don't understand people like Telcoman... So proud about using the wrong gas that he actually advertises it in his sig. It like the crazy uncle on SS and Medicaid who claims conservative politics. It defies rational explanation, so after a while you just stop bothering because you only see him on Thanksgiving. And he is family, after all.
Meh. I think my car, or every car for that matter, is a whole lot more rewarding to drive when actually driving it in a way that the design intent supports.

There is nothing wrong with trying to be a little green. I think it's a waste buying the G, driving it more conservatively than my grandma driving a 400K car on the expressway and then putting the lowest octane and cheapest gas one can find. Meh, but to each their own.
Having said that, I got a ride in a tesla yesterday, green can be fun.

Yes they do!
I'm just proving much of the misinformation regarding grade of gasoline.that gets posted by many who believe marketing and advertising hype.
Except for competition at the track the use of premium is a total waste of money. But that is just my opinion. I traded in my 06 G35 with 171796 miles and my engine ran just like new.
I did one month tests with 91 and 93 octane and saw no increase in MPG.
I've saved thousands of dollars in using regular with no problems at all.
To each their own
I drive 2k miles a month and the savings do add up

Warning: The VQ37VHR has a higher CR than the VQ35HR.
Your posts reflect little understanding of the concepts involved, so before others blindly follow your lead, I feel compelled to offer the following for consideration:
Using fuel with an octane rating higher than necessary for a given compression ratio wastes money.
Using fuel with an octane rating lower than necessary for a given compression ratio sacrifices power and risks engine damage.

Yes they have
I do respect your opinions. I just don't agree with many of them
No! Just making a point that using regular will not harm my G
Verified with Infiniti service
New vehicles are not delivered to a customer with a full tank of premium
Huh! Design intent?
Don't know what you mean?
You and I purchased our vehicles for different reasons.
I enjoy reading the posts and have even learned a few things like not using cruise control.as it reduces MPG
I purchased my both my Infiniti's for:
1- 6 Speed manual
2- RWD
3- Comfort and features on long drives
HP was never a factor in my decision

You obviously feather the gas, because you can't get that mileage driving hard. feathering the gas will alleviate knock with regular. Can't drive the car hard with regular, it will knock, whether you know it or not.
Infiniti service vs the owners manual? Owners manual wins every time.

right now manhattan is $4.5 for 93 on average.

Datalogging would confirm when the ECU is retarding timing due to knock count. I am new to this platform but am very familiar with how this works in my Stealth and suspect the G37 employs a more sophisticated version of what's described here. At any rate, telcoman has demonstrated that his ECU with input from his properly functioning knock sensor can retard timing enough to prevent significant damage to his engine. I prefer to avoid knock and allow the engine to operate as intended.
