Thanks I wanted to "try" everything out...Started with a '94 Eclipse GS-T FWD....This is the start of my dislike (Hate is too strong of a word) of FWD cars. So then I went to my '99 e36 M3/4, then when that was breaking down every month (had 100K mi), I got the '04 GTO, sold that in 10mnths, put ~20K mi on her and went thru a set of tires (burnouts were soooo easy in that car). They even had a "launch mode" for the track. Gas prices went thru the roof and costing me ~$90 a week and it was THE MOST impractical car I'll ever own. The trunk literally fit one (1) bag of gold clubs, b/c they relocated the gas tank into the trunk! Sold her b/c I wanted to try out a more practical AWD wagon...bought the '02 WRX wagon. She's been thru a lot and will need to go out to pasture soon Now I'm a proud owner of my '10 G37xS and am looking for a RWD car again...but front engine RWD or mid-engine RWD? Hmmmmm......Or mid-engine AWD? Or classic muscle car?

You pretty much went the classic muscle car route with the GTO, the Aussie build notwithstanding. Always loved that understated monster, and almost bought one instead of the G. Didn't know that about the tank & trunk. In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't, even if the occasional GTO still turns my head.

I've a friend with a BMW 650i Vert, and I swear that impractical boat drives like a muscle car. It's an old school experience with contemporary tech. And truly horrible mileage... but he knew that getting into the car.

True true....But I want a classic that will scare the crap outta me when I power it coming out of the corners...OK I can turn off the GTO's nanny controls...but it still felt too "safe." All I did to it in the ten months was a Lingenfelter CIA. That 5.7L LS1 made power with ease (long-live the pushrod! LOL!)...A total 180 from the high-strung 3.2L I6 M3 and 2.0T H4 WRX. But that 6.0L LS2 was sooo much better. I would get another one..but they have all been modded and driven hard...then again those engines are made to take it.

With the G I was hoping to get a slightly better MPG than the WRX...but I guess the "there's no replacement for displacement" motto works here in a way too....eventho the WRX has a turbo on it it's still 1.7 litres smaller than the V6.

Driving a RWD 6MT now vs AWD 7AT previously. My daily drive mileage has improved about 1.5 mpg (19.5 to 21) however pure highway ~80 mph is down from 28 to 24 or 25. I attribute these differences more to the gear ratios than RWD/AWD.

My X is getting like 16-17mpg in town. Does anywehre from 24-29 on the highway depending on speeds.

My 6MT did better in the city. 19-20 but only did 26-27 on the highway. I haven't noticed THAT big of a MPG drop.

i was getting 14/22 on avg with the 09 g37x.

you could see 9mpg in cold winter around manhattan.
most i get from high way was 26mpg. 22-24 on average.

usually 16-18mpg on average per tank of gas.

My 07 G35X 5spd, averaged 18.1MPG over a four year period.
My 11 G37S 6MT is averaging 19.2MPG, to date, for the first 2 years. She also wears heavier than stock, 20" shoes, from April to November. Weighing in at about 27-28lbs each.
I avg a 70/30, City/Hwy split.
The best MPG I have seen (while driving) in my 2011 was 29MPG but the best avg full tank I have ever achieved was 25MPG.

I do prefer to used UK gallons though. I makes the MPG numbers ~20% higher and feels a little better.
Currently paying $5.50/US Gal here. It is what it is.

I had a best tank in my '09 xS of 32 mpg almost pure highway at the speed limit. But most times I drve faster and the mileage dropped fast over 70-75mph. No way is the AWD costing 10% as I think someone said earlier. I have only done one road trip so far in my 6MT and there was some stop and go, so the HWY numbers on it might be a bit pessimistic. No question that the 6MT is better on my combo city & 2-lane country road commute.

i generally don't use the cars computer to measure my mpg. i fill up and do the math manually. last 3 tanks 65% highway 35% city i've averaged 22.8mpg on my awd coupe.

Yeah I do the manual calculation with my Subbie. I should do that with my G too. Technology makes me stoopid.....

I've checked the manual gas mileage math against my G several times over the past 3 years and its spot on every time down to the decimal point. I hear if you disconnect your battery for any reason it may throw the calculation off for a while, but I've never had to do this.
