Road and Track Q50s vs
So i got my new road and track and low and behold the Q50s vs 335i, lexus is350f and the ATS 3.6. How do you think it went... Dead last.
All scores are out of 5... 5 being best
Steering feel. ...1.5 (last)
Handing............2.5 (last)
Ride.................4.5 (win)
Engine pull.........4
Exhaust note......3.5
Brake-pedal feel..3.5
Driver comfort and support....4
Exterior styling....2.5 (last)
Interior ergo/style..3.5
Gearbox..............3 (tie for last)
Fastest car of the bunch was the 335i in 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile
Fastest braking was ATS even though Q50 brakes are the biggest in test, comparison 80 to 0 in ats took 208ft vs Q50s 223ft
we are 3rd in roadhandling g's only beating the lexus
Editor notes say the Q50 gives absolutly no feedback at all in the steering. In a hard brake in second gear the Nanny came on and killed power for a second (car releaxed brake grip, pedal stiffend, and steering went numb.
since it now cost as much as the 335i we cant even claim they arnt in the same class.... Why couldnt they continue the way they had and been diffrent than the rest. thats what attracted most of us to the brand in the first place.

I assume this test had Infiniti's new-fangled electronic steer-by-wire system? If so, then yes, pretty much it means no road feel. (Actually, from what I've read, it's that the road feel is TOO much, as in too much vibration compared to the cabin).

ride is diffrent
Ride is how much road noise and bumps can be felt into cabin and how nuch the car jumps aaround in a corner. Gearbox was probably hunting for gear... no feedback through the steering wheel.

You don't have to buy the electronic steering, it's an option. Still sad to see Infinity bollox it up like this. If I had to buy new right now I would be looking at BMW or Audi (since I'm a manual guy).

Yeah my Car and Driver October issue just came today and they did a review on the hybrid Q50s and it wasn't pretty. A couple of quotes from the article sums it up quite nicely. "At all times the steering feels lifeless" and "your hands might as well be spinning the Wheel of Fortune" and the closing quote "the Q50 is much more about luxury and tech than driving pleasure. Systems administrators are welcome, but drivers should hang onto their old Gs and save on the extra copper."
They pretty much surmised Infiniti seemed to want to get a head start on the driverless car and the car is "spooky" when driving aids like Lane Control are used. This is the last thing I expected the next gen G37 to end up being. A lifeless and rich man's Camry. I think I'll be keeping my G for quite awhile. Hate to see what's going to be happening with the coupe. When the Lexus IS350 ends up being the most engaging car to drive in this segment then we may be seeing the end of the entry level sport sedan as we used to know it.

Thank GOODNESS I have my 2010 G37s Anniversary Edition sedan to be happy and proud to own and clearly plan to keep it. It's very clear that when I am ready to purchase my next vehicle, Infiniti will no longer be on my list based on the direction they are going. Infiniti needs to change its slogan "inspired performance." It's more like "idiotic performance" now... Just sad!

Infiniti Ruined a great car with focusing on too many damn Gadgets!! I for One Hate the new Q's...DUmb Name...Overpriced.....THat's why I bought my 07 G...Had good features with a decent price and great performance! I will never buy a new Q! If I'm half to pay over $50K for a Q..I rather buy an M! Infiniti will lose alot of Customers with this crap! Hope they realize and fix the Pricing and the Car itself! Looks like an Expensive Maxima hate to say!! SMDH!!! And all these reviews coming out rank it at the Bottom! How can a Caddi Beat Infiniti! SAD!!!

And agree, at that price point it opens up a whole new group of cars to choose from, many that offer at least as many features. That WAS the Infiniti way, give the customer a high performance car for a reasonable price, now it's a reasonable performing car for a high price
