I don't know where you pulled this information about the weights from, but straight from Infiniti website, the weight of the q goes from 3500-3800. the weight of the g goes from 3600-3700.

so yes, you have to compare specific configurations to determine apples to apples.

The base Q is lighter than the base G by about a couple lbs, but when comparing it the the S models the Q50s is heavier than the G37s

Newt, you haven't seen the pleather material yet, have you? It's truly bad. I can't believe making leather an option was a smart move. Doesn't make any sense to me if the alternative is poor quality in comparison.

Pleather material over flat, limp buckets in the base Q... might as well be a vinyl bench like my old '67 Plymouth.

Admittedly, it's all subjective. Some people expect more than what is realistic, just like others are predisposed to be impressed with mediocrity. If you think about it, be better off to suffer from the latter because the first group spends most of their time disappointed with the world.

While leather seating has its own set of issues occasionally (see this thread), this pleather is bad. The non-sport seats are completely non-supportive. And the sport-seats take second fiddle to the G37's Sport Seats. It's a triple crown fail.

I saw a Q50S yesterday on the road. I still think overall it looks nice, but the rear looks too much like Sonata. On the other hand, the new IS looks really good in person. It has a striking look and very stands out. If I were to buy a new sport sedan right now, the IS would top my list, follow by the 3-series and finally the Q50.

thank goodness for vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. ranking by best looking, BMW, Infiniti, Lexus. Ranking in order of probable acquisition, Infiniti, BMW.

That's my choice because I really don't want to put up with German reliability and according to reviews the IS350 has the best steering feel which to me equates fun in daily driving. It may not get the highest skidpad #'s but 99% of us aren't going to the track with our sedans so no loss there. The redesigned look of the IS was done right. I'm not crazy about th grill but it actually does look restrained in the IS model and everything is perfectly proportioned and with it's own distinctive styling cues that you know it's a Lexus and looks upscale. The Q50 looks out of proportion and has a mishmash of styles that gives it no presence. Add to that the apparently lifeless steering and the G37 is the last infiniti I buy until at least the Q50 model run ends.

I would rather have "pleather rather than leather because I drive my dogs around in the G and those claws tear up the leather.

Don't be too quick to dismiss German rides due to reliability, they've made big strides lately and Porsche is number 1 of all brands in reliability. I've been bitten pretty hard by poor BMW reliability but I'm going in w/ an open mind regarding the latest German offerings, they truly seem to be making progress in that department.

My G has been to the dealer more for warranty work in the last 3 yrs than my Audi in 6 yrs.
