The OEM tips are stainless steel, not titanium. If you burn them, they will likely turn out black. It takes skills to burn metal for color effect.

Even if you or some shop had said skills, you'd have to remove the tips to do it properly. You certainly can't do it on the car without torching your bumper.

However, the OEM tips are welded to the exhaust. I know it looks like they are clamped on, but they aren't. They're welded on.

And if you could remove these truly crappy, OEM tips, consider that they are double-walled, rolled ovals. Most burnt Ti tips are single wall, and there's likely a good reason for that.

Really? Personally, I think that whole burnt Ti look is stupid. Not sure why I think that, but it looks wrong and fake to me.

Here's a picture of the OEM tip. You really want this in burnt Ti?

Tough love, brother.

You're much better off buying tips manufactured according to this goal of yours. For example, something like this... which, interestingly enough, is a rolled edge. So there goes my theory about single-wall tips and burning. LOL

Anyway, if you buy tips that have an ID on the neck that is larger than the OD of the inner exhaust tip on the OEM muffler, you can cut the OEM tips off and weld your new ones on directly to the can. Or someone with welding skills can do that.

I for one still can't understand why Somone would put burnt tips on a luxury sedan/coupe, IMO they look horrible, I'm also still
Coming to terms with halos on the G37. To each their own.

I just now figured out why I don't like burnt tips. The whole point of that look is to allude to an engine that's so powerful that it spits flames out the back, like a dragster, or some crazy tuned exotic. Since that's not even remotely true for a daily driver, particularly a luxury(ish) Sport Sedan, it looks wrong, and just childish. Anyway, that's my completely subjective reasoning.

It was random. Google Images on "burnt exhaust tips", or some other variation.

On another note... when you're burned, you've got nothing: no cash, no credit, no job history. You're stuck in whatever city they decide to dump you in. You do whatever work comes your way.

I paid a little extra for the Ark with burnt tips. My wife made me polish off the finish. Now it's polished on the outside but has a cool finish inside that is visible from close.
