Q50 loses in comparo to Lexus IS 350 F Sport

After having watched it, I don’treally see any compelling “win” for the Lexus.
I really love pretty much everything about my G. I think it should have come with side turn signal lights and daytime running lights, and the paint seems too delicate, but beyond that, I have no substantive complaints.
Also, (off topic, but I've wanted to share this for a while) I realize the owners manual says no-no to fuel cleaners, but I have now run two bottles of Techron through mine, and the results are amazing. Granted, it's a 2010 CPO that had 16K on it when I got it, so it obviously sat around a bit.

They tested a Q50S configured as the most aggressive, hardcore sports version that Infiniti offers, note the lack of understeer and then they proceed to complain about just those characteristics. Probably a non-sport version would have been more to their liking.
The Q50 styling doesn't do much for me, but I have to admit it's better than the IS350.

Having driven both cars I totally agree with the review. I track my car maybe 3 - 4 times a year (close circuit) and I look for certain qualities in handling. Body roll was more significant on the Q50 the IS was more planted. The brakes are enough for the IS anything more aggressive is unnecessary. The only thing I would probably change are the brake fluid make it racing fluid. The chassis of the IS was more forgiving and makes it feel like it can take more punishment. The shifting of the IS tranny in sport + mode is just heaven to hear from the downshift (almost instant) to up shift music to my ears I tell you. I know that the aggressive look of the IS is either a love or hate thing, but I happen to love the front look. Up close this car is really good looking the Q50 in Obsidian Black is a looker as well. I just wished Infiniti made the car lighter and the tranny could use a lot of tuning. I find it very lazy in shifting just like the current G I'm driving. I know that you guys are Infiniti loyalist so am I, but in this case I think Lexus nailed the IS performance more than Infiniti did. I also heard that the IS will be getting a new power plant (when IDK but they said soon). So Infiniti has to come up with something to counter that otherwise the IS will leave the Q50 in the dust.

I agree. The IS feels very planted. Very impressed by that. 8spd tranny is better too. Overall I too would probably chose the IS350. i don't like the IS look much but I do like how Lexus is going with an aggressive approach to their styling.
Seems like Lexus did more homework when preparing for the new IS.

I drove the IS 350 F Sport last weekend and I have to admit, I did not expect it to drive so good. The shifts were amazing even with the paddles and had almost no lag. Very understeery indeed but I guess that's more forgiving than snappy oversteer for drivers who are not used to it. The instrument cluster felt like it was from the 23rd century! I definitely approve of it.
The only thing I didn't like really was the center console design and that stupid floating controller. Could not get it to work with precision and the cursor was always all over the place. Maybe I just need to get used to it. I didn't like the interface either (need to get used to it?)

Here is the video link on Motortrend to see the comparo. I have to say I've been disappointed with Infiniti's direction. 2014 Infiniti Q50S vs 2014 Lexus IS350 F-Sport! - Head 2 Head Ep. 40

I was at my INFINITI dealership yesterday, where they also sell Lexus, and did a walk-around on the new IS250 AWD Sport. Little brakes, weak little engine, automatic transmission, and just about the most hideous grille and trim I've ever seen on a car... all for a mere $45,000.
How anyone could look at that package and think "Win!" is entirely beyond my comprehension.
So, if this is the competition, then Hell-yeah I'd rather have a Q50.
