Sport Package Question

Sport Package Question
I'm looking into a used 2010 G37 and noticed that it has the sport package, but it also has an automatic transmission. I looked at the infiniti website and it says the sport package only comes with manual. Also, I was wondering if the sport suspension in the package is a little uncomfortable? I'm interested in the package but not so much the suspension part. Thanks for you help!

lilgers,
Suspension stiffness is a matter of taste. I currently have both an xS "sport appearance" sedan and a full-sport 6MT. Your S-package automatic should have the same suspension as the 6MT. It is definitely stiffer than the xS, but it isn't too bad IMHO. You can feel small disturbances like expansion joints more, but the trade off is better handling with reduced body roll and understeer.

Unlike the Coupe, the Sport Package is schizoid on the Sedan.
Only the RWD Sedan with a Sport Package (G37S) actually gets the sport-tuned struts, sway bars, big brakes, limited slip diff, staggered rims, 3-season tires, and sport-tuned steering. This is classified as a Journey w/Sport.
The AWD Sedan with a Sport Package (G37xS) gets none of those things. It's an appearance package only. Seats, sills, bragging rights, S-badge, etc. Any interpretation of a stiffer ride between a G37xS and a G37x (or base G37) is a misnomer. But obviously the AWD will drive somewhat differently than the non-Sport Journey.
The 6MT is classified as a separate model entirely, although badged as a G37S. It only comes (came) in RWD, and has (had) the Sport Package by default with all the aforementioned considerations that make it an actual sport sedan.

lilgers,
I personally find the ride in the G37S RWD to be quite comfortable. I'm used to firmer rides, but I find that it provides a good balance of comfort and stiffness, but my tastes are different and it's definitely worth it to test drive!
Additionally, as blnewt mentioned, the brakes are quite good.

x2. My wife enjoys the "sporty but comfortable" (her words) ride of our G37S rwd sedan. She has complained about the ride harshness of almost every vehicle I've owned. My only complaint is the automatic which she insisted on having, but it's her car. I got her to drive my sons coupe with the manual and she said it was easy and now wishes she would have gone for a manual. Oh well. I just drive my car.

+1 I enjoy my g37s very much, suspension is stiffer than some people may be used to but like everyone else said, it's a great balance. I love the bbk cause the stopping power is pretty good compared to some other cars, and it looks good on the car. Some people say they went for the sport package just because of the seats, but I wouldn't know because I've only owned the sport. Good luck with your purchase!

You're welcome, lilgers. There's no special knowledge, it's just the way the G37 Sedan was configured according to the different models: Journey, Journey w/Sport, AWD, AWD w/Sport, and the 6MT.

I currently have an xS and a 6MT which I've been driving back to back around some of my favorite twisties. Obviously the handling on the true Sport models is better (quicker steering, less body roll, signifcantly less understeer). But the xS with good tires is really not bad.

Actually, when we bought my first ('09) G, we drove both the straight x and the xS. My wife disliked the xS for the sport seats and because of the stiffer ride (we ended up buying the xS anyway - my car, not hers). I attributed the stiffer ride and better handling to low profile tires on 18" rims on the xS (vs. 17's on the x).
