How to remove the damper pin in glove box

I tried to change the cabin air filter last weekend, but I had a hard time to detach the damper pin from the glove box. I gave up after 30 mins trying.
Can someone here please give me a detailed instruction to detach it? or some special tool needed?

I had a hard time getting it out at first as i tried removing the string lol. I laid on my back and got behind the glove box and it just pushed out(The whole thing comes off with the plastic thing).

^^What he said. The whole thing comes out, so it isn't necessary to remove it. I just changed my cabin filter a couple weeks ago. After 36k miles, it actually wasn't all that bad.

Here's a link to the sticky in the DIY section:

Yep, no need to remove it. Hardest thing is keeping that far back phillips screw from falling back into the firewall. Whole thing takes about 10 minutes (if you don't drop the screw )

I changed the cabin air filter in my 2010, without messing with the damper pin. I used a magnetic tip on a long shaft Phillips screwdriver.
