Rick,

Since you have been happy with your G35x and your wife now has the Q50S AWD, then why not go for the 2013 G37xS?
Plus you are pleased with you dealership's sales & service.

I've own 2 FX's and now a 2013 G37xS and I can't be more pleased...even at the time knowing that the Q50 was just around the corner.

I say go for it!

Tools for the job man. LOVE my Q7-it's a very sporty 3 row SUV. In all honesty, Infiniti could learn much from Audi about a quality interior and refinement. That and the reliability has been excellent. The Escalade....yeah- not much to say there except that we need a large SUV and there is not much out there. We actually use our family truckster to go 4x4 at our beach house so we really need a SUV. Then again, the Escalade appeals to my Jersey-side.....

I was just reading on this very same board how some felt the newer Audi interiors were cheaper looking than in prior years. Maybe not all models, but that comment says something, at least in one persons opinion. I'd rather buy the Q56.

I don't know why, but when it comes to spending my dollars, no matter how the press effuses over Audi I can't get "into" them.

I can understand why the Escalade appeals to your "jersey side', however...

I doubt they were talking about a new A6/7/8 (all newer designs) when talking about cheaper, especially since Audi is considered the standard when it comes to interiors. Audi makes a relatively simple yet elegant interior. Everything from the leather quality, fit/finish, to the "thump" of the door is a level above the QX. The most noteworthy QX interior advantages are the navigation system and space. The wife loves her QX though and I do appreciate how simply it does many varied things.

Obviously my 09 Q7 is not the same as a brand new MB GL design but the Q7 is being updated within the next model year or so and I'm sure it'll be gorgeous. I still love getting into it though. I got the Q7 b/c I wanted the sportier side of the SUV but needed that third row. Plus I think Audi flies under the radar and doesn't scream "look at how much I spent" to people. That's probably the biggest appeal to many- it's not a BMW or MB. I will definitely look hard at the new Q7 when it comes out.

The Escalade is almost the exact antithesis to the Q7- it wants you to notice it and yells for attention. I still get excited when I hear the gurgle of the Escalade V8. My neighbor has one and I swear he gives it a lil more throttle when I'm around I never had one of the official Jersey cars of the 80's/90's (Mustang 5.0, Camaro, Firebird) so I'm still trying to scratch that itch

Once I got used to it, I really like the S sports seats. Plus you get the S bodywork, paddle shifters, 18" wheels/tires, etc. I'd get the xS now if you can. You can still upgrade the springs and sway bars later.

if and when gas reaches $5 gallon and it rationed, it might be a different story.

Highly doubtful since we need the 4x4 to pull the boat, trailer, carry 3 kids plus friends, and hit the beach. The new Escalade will certainly pull better MPG numbers than our QX (14/15) and probably my Q (16/17).

Per Edmunds-
The current Escalade offers only a 6.2-liter V8, so there's little doubt that Cadillac will offer GM's all-new, more efficient V8 of the same displacement. No power figures have been released for it yet, but expect at least 400 horses and considerably better mileage numbers to go along with it.
The bigger question is how much weight Cadillac can extract from the Escalade. A diet of extensive aluminum and high-strength steel helped shed around 250 pounds from the new Chevy Silverado, which is based on the same chassis. Repeating the trick for the Escalade could help it climb from its current 16 mpg combined and get all-wheel-drive models into the mid-to-high teens.

Ahh understand. i can't relate to hauling all of that. When I go to my vacation house, I get on the plane without luggage, just a small carry on.

I wish I could take just the carry on! I've literally hooked the trailer up and loaded that up with "stuff" (everything from surfboards to juice boxes/soda) b/c we had too many riders in the truck for much cargo That's the upside/downside to being only 160 miles from the beach house and a house full of kids and friends.

I'll look forward to only a "carry on" when it's me....

I wish it was 160 miles...I have 2,840 more to go than you to get to where I'm going.

So what happened
Last Monday the sales guy did not call me back and I got busy Tuesdays i go to dealer and the new black on black 37xS is gone...oh well I will keep my G35. Give the sales guy a little bit of a hard time ....he says he thought I was just kidding because I was surprising my wife with the Q.... Unbelievable he lost a sale
Wednesday he calls with some follow up BS worried about his 5 rating but says they have a 37xS with 2950 mi a factor rep car. So I go borrow over nigh take it out on I88 - nice ride and enjoy more than my 08 G but for 35k I am thinking new with VPP for 36 something if there are any left in Chicago
Thursday he call back says Mgr says I can have that car for 34k, throw in window tint and winter mats and I now own a G37xS liquid platinum with graphite interior

Price was OK but I now do not need to pay for brakes or my 60 k service for my G35 and a good chunk of initial depreciation is gone. So if I still want a Q in a couple years I should be ready

Dealer is prepping car so I do not have yet
Look forward to driving the Sport

Congrats! Sounds like a good deal to me. Is it "new" or CPO?

Not sure what CPO is. The car will be treated as used but from what I can tell it means warranty started when it went into service. Thus I lose 10 months of warranty but this will not likely be a high mileage car and based on my Infiniti experience I do not have problems with them

CPO- Certified Pre Owned. Infiniti gives you longer warranty coverage past the 4/60K. I'd push for it, especially since you're not going to be a high mileage driver.
