Question

Saw the Q50 while I was getting my oil changed. It looks more like a BMW in person and the only interesting thing I noticed is it had 245/40/19 on all 4 corners. Sticker was only $1K for the wheel/tire upgrade. That is impressive. Didn't have time to look inside.

Today I've testdrove Q50S. There was a presentation of new Q50. There was only two test drives and I was the lucky one. The salesman said he even did not drive himself.

I was able to accelerate on parking lot from 0 to 40, just floored it. The car is heavier than G37, and they improved MPG, so there is no magic there - the car is slower.
My feeling tells, that handling is definitely less responsive and precise- "electronic steer-by-wire technology" helped a lot there. The rear headroom is improved,so I'm 6.1 was comfortable in there.

But how the car looks, it's a beauty and piece of art - amazing! The interior is absolutly great - love it.

I guess, who is looking more sporty and performance car - take the G37, it's on huge sale now.
Who is looking to buy a family sports car, with bigger rear headroom and an awesome look like that - Q50. But Q50 will be more expensive, of cause, until at least new g37 leftovers completely gone from dealers lots.
This one I test drove today. OOps cant upload pics.

^ A more refined car may feels slower... Edmunds times show the car is not any slower.

You might be right, it's just my feeling. I would wait another full review from another recognized auto magazine.
The same engine and same transmission, and 120lb heavier car, and some how higher MPG - the law of physics has to be applied. I'm all skeptic about the Edmunds test.

Well the exhaust noise is definitely quieter than g37 stock.

I didn't test drive it because they had non-sports and if its not the sport and preferably come out with a manual I won't waste my time. Looks are very subjective but looking at the lines and how the red pops vs the boring white Q50's they had, I just can't get with the program.

I see another M failure. The previous gen M was a hit - the press liked it and it sold well. Then comes the current generation M - a big departure from the previous car - and it's done poorly in the press and in sales. The Q50 is even a bigger departure from the very successful G37 - they're going after the Lexus GS crowd save that Infiniti will never be able to match Lexus levels of refinement. I predict the Q50 will do poorly (or at least not as good as the G), at least in its initial years. Perhaps they'll add a legit Audi S/M-B AMG/BMW M/Lexus -F version of the Q50 but until then, this car loses most of the G37 customer base.

Although out of the "G" nation (now have a 2013 M37X), look at Automobile Magazine's recent First Drive Review....little acclaim noted here. It may have too much Techie stuff including the highly touted Steering By Wire feature. From that report, and the fact the new M is very pleasing with more room and comfort (hey I'm 62 years old now), and I made a terrific deal on m the new lease, I'm very content with my decision.

Regards to the G Nation....
