G37 to continue production along with Q50 for 2014
Now before I get flamed, I realize not to always believe what the car salesman said. However, a few other members on InfinitiQ50.org have also heard this as well.
The dealer whom I purchased my last 3 G37s emailed me about the Q50 availability, and he mentioned that Infiniti plans to keep making the G37 for 2014 model year. However, the 6MT model and the Sport AWD model will be dropped.
Has anyone else heard this? This logic doesn't necessarily make sense to me, so I would like insight from others. A penny for your thoughts...

My only thought is the salesman is confused about the current G37 coupe being produced into 2014, although that will be re-branded the Q60 from what I've heard.
Since the Q50 is barely more expensive than the G37, I can't see why Infiniti would keep producing G's unless they planned to sell them at major discounts which might hurt their Q sales. Dealers are already aggressively discounting the G's to move them before the end of the summer. Just wouldn't make any sense to me, my 2 cents.

Salesman is likely referring the the Coupe, and simply overlooking the name change.
Although discontinuing the Sport Package on the Coupe seems ridiculous, so... I highly doubt this.

I live in southern California, and I can safely say that I see more non-S coupes (and sedans, for that matter) than "S" models. Maybe there are pockets where there are simply more S-driving enthusiasts, but I certainly haven't found such. In fact, I still see more G35s models, than G37s ones. That makes our G37s feel a little more special, I guess.

If they only offer Journey and base AWD models, the price gap between the Q50 could be significant, especially since MSRP on the Q50 will increase after the introductory price period ends.
Not sure what I will do when my lease ends in December. I'd really like to get into the Q50, but no manual option and high lease payments are deterring me right now. Maybe another short term G37S lease if the price is right.

No, he was definitely talking about the sedan. Sorry I should have clarified in my original post.

It's only hearsay or conjecture until it comes directly from the corporate level. We are all aware that salespeople are often less well informed than forum dwellers. Some (though certainly not all) are also just plain ignorant of the product or deceitful to try to sell a product that's in stock today.
This doesn't even sound plausible. Ask yourself, why hasn't anyone seen this information anywhere besides from the mouths if salesmen? Have any of the Infiniti salesmen who are regular forum contributors been given this information from any official channel through Infiniti?

I wonder what the conversations where like at the end of 2003, when Infiniti decided to keep making the I35 for 2004, while over at Nissan the identical Maxima was replaced with an all new 2004 model?

My salesman in Denver said the same thing yesterday, that Infiniti has decided to continue production of the G37 sedans alongside the Q50. He seemed to think they would have the 6MT since it won't be offered in the Q50.

Op is correct if you believe what I was told.
"G37 will continue for MY14 with the Base as the only option and majority sanctioned for fleet use."
Something along those lines is what I was told.
