My car hydroplane on the highway

Good thing you are ok and didnt hit another car.
I have Hankook ventus and they are not close to bald but not new either if I were to guess about 40-50% tread life remaining.
I live in CA not many rainy days but when there is just wet asphalt I can feel the rear's break loose for a bit not even driving aggressively.
I think G's just need good tires at all times.

while i was away at school this past semester i had my maxima 3.5sv (sport package) which is a great car by the way, and my dad had the g37 which he had just bought for me...it needed new tires so he got goodyear all season tires (i'm completely stock right now) and they seem to be alright except for the other day when they slid in the wet on a u- turn, that i wasn't driving through fast at all...but so far they've been ok i guess

Last night while traveling home in the rain, I was saying to my self not sure if I should be traveling with the flow of traffic, because I had a feeling that my tires were going not slip. Within 2secs, I felt the back end give away. I was on the fast lane. I'm not sure y, but had my car in DS mode in the rain. Smh. As I started to slide to the right, I started to turn the wheel as fast as I can due to traffic near me. I didn't wanna hit anyone due to my error, so I spun about 3-4 times, slamed into the guard rail once or twice in the front end , and was able to roll it from left lane to right lane breakdown lane. (Pics coming soon). After rescue crew and state trooper check me out, I was able to drive home, 30miles. An alignment of the wheel was pulling the car. Oh , no injury to me nor did the air bag deploy.
Replace your tires with an alignment ASAP and have your brakes checked.
Purchase one of these

BTW a 6 speed manual may have prevented what happened to you.
They are much safer to drive in bad weather as long as you drive at a safe speed.

I think tires play the most important part because it doesn't seem as if he was traveling excessive, the stock Bridgestone Potenzas have given me more confidence in the Nashville nasty weather than I've ever had. I had some Yokohomas on my Altima I had a while back and when new till time to replace was horrible in the rain or moist conditions. I swear I will never by a set of Yokohomas again.
Have Yokohamas on my evo, best tores i ever had.
Never ever lost grip/traction.
Plus I push all of my cars, except in a torrential downpour.

My guess is that those were stock Dunlops from the xS. at 34K on them, they are probably getting into not so safe territory.
I almost hydroplaned once in my 2009 X with stock tires. I was going a bit too fast in the left lane when it was pouring. But other than that incident, the car stays planted but I don't really push it in unsafe conditions (really pouring or potential for ice, especially on bridges). And my tires were never bold.
It is good to know the limits of the car you are driving and your skills so that you stay in the comfort zone.

Stuff like that happens so fast...your tires were fairly worn, your tires are slightly wider than average width, and you may have unintentionally driving in a "low spot" in the lane (poor road maintenance). All came together to cause your accident. Could have been far worse. Soiled underwear can be replaced. Time for new tires.

So its almost a month, since accident, all body work was completed, about 6 grand in work, but sadly, steering sucks, no response and or delay when I firm the wheel. This after alignment too, I felt this same delay after the accident when I drove away. Car will be sent to the dealership on Monday, by the aauto body shop.

Not to be picky but it may have been viscoplaning rather than hydroplaning. The former is loss of traction due to thin wet film conditions and lack of sufficiently sharp tread block edges, while the latter is, as previously stated, traction loss due to insufficient water pumping capacity stemming from low tread depth.

After 48k miles, tires will be changed. These dunlops just dont feel right. I did Enjoy Continental's DWS on my 09 max. So these will be installed on wed.
