This is a y back system not a cat back system correct ? If it is has anyone changed their oem y pipe to something else ? Did it affect the sound of the exhaust when done ?

Yes these are Y-backs, from all that I've read the Y pipe change does little for the sound, just cleans up the restriction of the smaller tubing.

For anybody interested I spoke to John over at Topspeed and they are expecting their next delivery in 2-3 weeks as long as customs doesn't hold them up.

These seem to get the best reviews since they match up better to aftermarket exhausts
G37 Y-pipe
The Megan and other similar Y pipes have bigger tubing so there's not a smooth transition from the Y pipe to the resonator mid pipes.

I am lowered on eibach pro kit on my sedan and my muffler scrapes pretty often when I am going up a steep entrance or a bump. The front of my car with an oem lip usually clears everything tho. Does anyone else have this problem with their lowered g sedan with a topspeed exhaust?

I'm lowered to zero gap on coils, so about 3/4" lower than Eibachs and can scrape when backing out of a sharp angled drive, but w/ a sharp turn at the right time as I'm going down the drive I can eliminate it. Go into steep drives at an angle and you shouldn't have any problem.

I am not lowered, but have bent the exhaust hangers to tuck the exhaust up closer to the bottom of the car. It looks much better now.

i am getting mine installed tomorrow...the mechanic doing it is a trusted guy from a friend who has had his STI worked on there....the mechanic said there may be an issue with the O2 sensor. I have an 09 7at journey sedan...are O2 sensors a common problem when getting this exhaust installed? because they're 200 a piece and i was not expecting that lol. am i going to have to get new ones or am i good?

O2 sensors do not come into play at all. You're good to go, and if he says something about your o2 after install than he cannot be trusted.

lol, true that^^^
If you were involving the catalytic convertors then issues would arise. The guy might have assumed he was going w/ a intake-back setup

so the o2 sensors have absolutely nothing to do with exhaust? out of curiosity, where are they located?

and, blnewt, im not sure what he assumed....seems like he works mostly on classics (that's what was in his lot), he has a couple of rolls royces too new and old...and he himself has a noble m12....so it seems like he works on whatever he can get his hands on...so maybe he was making a generalization?

just replacing the stock system with the topspeed system...so there shouldnt be an issue with o2 sensors/catalytic converters correct?

The sensors are located after the cats to detect proper emissions, if you remove or alter the cats the O2 sensors will detect something's wrong and your check engine light will come on. The TopSpeed installs after the factory Y pipe, the Y pipe connects to the cats, so you're quite a distance form the sensors. So you will have no issues
