Infiniti can't be serious... Q50 lease
#46
Yes - Infiniti needs to make money, but they also must be competitive in the marketplace. The facts are harsh....the brand has limited recognition and the dealer network (IMO) is riddled with poor performers. On top of that, brands like BMW offer free maintenance, something that should be factored into any lease decision. Ultimately market forces will determine the pricing for the Q. Regarding long term reliability, I suspect the Q will be much better than BMW, but for someone leasing, that will seldom become much of an issue.

If you look at BMW maintenance package it's because they are trying to get people to not worry about the expensive maintenance of their vehicles. I purchased the maintenance package for my '13 6mt sedan for $1500 and I saw that as a small price to pay but I've had nissan products before and never had a issue so I was reluctant to buy it before the finance manager broke down the pricing.
My 4 year maintenance package on my car was $1700. Next time I buy an Infiniti, I won't get it again. They use no synthetic oil, so I could get the same oil change for $25-$30 at any shop down the street. $50 for a full synthetic change. Take $1700 and divide it by $30, and that's 56 oil changes. At most, you will get 16 oil changes in 4 years. Cost of that is less than $500 at $30 each. $800 for $50 synthetic changes. While they also do other fluid checks, air filters, and wipers, they do that 3-4 times in that time period, hardly making the extra $1200 worth it. Even worse, in my case, I have to drive 38 miles to my dealer, adding 4 gallons of gas to each round trip, which is about $16 per oil change, adding another $256 to the cost over 16 oil changes.
Once you do the math, it's not always worth it. Though in my case, I got such a reduction in loan interest rate, that it paid for itself, so there was really no point in not getting it.

My G37 lease is up December 2013, so I'll be looking at the lease/buy decision pretty closely. Since the body style will be around for a long time, I might actually buy this time.
