Anyone know anything about gold plating?

I was thinking of rose gold plating my badges. I just don't know if they would change color due to the weather. I've never seen a car with rose gold badges. Thoughts? My g is black and I would black all the chrome. Graphite rims with rose symbols. Too much?

This would look awesome on the hood of a G-Coupe. Extremely stupid and out of place, too, but still... love the old firebird decal. LOL

To the OP's question, you can paint your emblems, but you can't actually gold plate them. They're plastic.

Low temp plastic powder coating as Mystikal said would be a good choice.

That being said gold badges are plain terrible (do your best Charles Barkley impression here) and evidently expensive.
Goldrushplating- Gold Plated Emblems, Including Gold Plated Cadillac Emblems, Custom Gold Emblems and Spoilers for any Car.

Also consider making "I pity the fool" your new official catch phrase.

My Mom owned a white Celica GTS that had gold plated badges. They were done in 24k. It did look nice but this was many years back. Some things should not be brought back to the modding world.

You can plate the emblems, but the process to get it done and a jeweler wiling to do it for you for a reasonable price, that will be the hard part. Has to be plated by 2 solutions before the Gold will adhere to the surface, and has to be done quickly while all 3 beakers are close to boiling. It's a pain and if someone walked into our shop asking for it, I would send him down the street. Get it painted dude cheaper and much easier. You'd save yourself some flaming as well...
And off topic BB a firefly, and scifi fan? And Rochester I know we have our differences but you alright in my book, just for the fact you even know what that is

Really? Honestly, I had no idea that plastics can be plated. I imagine it's a layering process, where the plastic has to be first coated with something that the plating could transfer to. Either way, you're right, painting is the way to go.

In that context, VHT makes "anodized paint". Just discovered that recently.

Firefly was awesome. Shame so few episodes. Ditto for SGU.
