LOL! But seriously, all I can say here is that you're reading that wrong. I thought your "simply dominates" comment was over-the-top funny, and that's that. Honest injen, buddy.

I seem to recall the S4 being a bit pricier than a G, evidently great value. Here's a nice quote from an R&T test: "...the headaches caused from needing our 6-speed manual transmission to be replaced at only 16,000 miles (due to a reverse gear glitch) and being temporarily stranded on the road at 22,000 miles by a failed thermostat (draining all the coolant from our engine) would have us definitely reevaluating our investment, had we been the actual owners of this otherwise excellent midsize sports sedan."

Sorry to see the aftermath of your accident. But it's worth looking back (literally) and seeing how the well-engineered crumple zones, seats, headrests and restraints kept you from serious injury. You were only a sitting duck for that distracted driver, but your G gave it up to keep you safe and allow you to walk away. Start looking for the next ride? Maybe we should thank the one that's leaving for the salvage yard. It's something we take for granted far too easily in this day and age...

Trust me, I am sad to see this great car go and I am really grateful to it for keeping me safe. I don't go so far as give name to cars, but I will still really miss it. I had a lot of fun driving it from 7 to 46,447 miles for almost 3 and a half years.

It might be eventually restored and sold with a salvage title to someone else. I don't think they part out all totaled cars.

Too late - I already turned the car over. Plus they will probably not let me take parts out since the insurance bought it and owns it now.

Hey guys, I agree that S4 looks like a lot of fun, but I don't seem to find a lot of inventory in my area, at least with the options I would prefer. New S4 is significantly more expensive than G. And a 2 year old S4 is basically a price of well equipped brand new G.

So I am not ruling out a 2013 G at this point, with a short to medium term lease. This will allow me to see how Q50 will work out once it is available.

Decisions, decisions....

Agree...make sure you check the reliability of the Audi. I have friends who were major Audi fans until the got their A4. Nothing but unresolved problems. Not sure they will ever buy another one.

That's right. The S4 is a fine car (more so than the A4 2.0T), but it's also not that common. Probably more common than a G37 RWD Sport Sedan, however still uncommon. And very expensive, with a base MSRP at $47.6, which can quickly option up to $54K. That's quite a premium over your old 2009 G37x. Granted, you're getting an AWD sedan, with a proper 6MT, power and luxury... but still, that's some serious dinero for a whole lot of people.

Somebody a few posts back suggested a short-term lease on a disposable car, while you wait for the Q50... or whatever. Good advice.

The car's damage doesn't look as severe as other totalled G's...wow, it doesn't take much for our cars to get totaled.

It sounds like we are somewhere else besides an Infiniti forum. The S4 is a nice ride but significantly more costly and it has been updated for 2013 but its still not that much better than the G in any category. I would wait till the Q50 comes out, its supposed to have a lot of Formula 1 input. If the current G is able to still hold its own against refreshed and updates 335's and S4's after being out this long, I'm pretty sure the next one is gonna kill em
