The 2014 Q50 Hybrid could be a 30+ MPG Combined Car

Actually, it's very likely.

I'm most charged up about the Q50 Hybrid. Infiniti is clearly making IT the performance model. They finally have corrected their errors. No more holding out on sport just because you have an X (as in the G Sedan) or Hybrid (as in the M35H). They started to change when they brought a true sport pack to the coupe with AWD and M with AWD.

At any rate, here is a little mag racing i've done. Interesting to see how close I am when the EPA ratings are out for the Hybrid.

The current EU M35h is rated at 6.9L/100KM combined which translates to 34MPG. Forget the fact that the EU cycle is unrealistic. Just use it as an apples to apples thing. Now the M35h is rated at 29MPG combined by the EPA. So, basically our US test results in a 15% reduction in rated combined MPG. Ok, now that we have that info.......

The 2014 Q50 Hybrid is rated at 6.2L/100KM combined. This translates to 38MPG. So take a 15% reduction at were at 32MPG. (my prediction). This is really great. You're talking a 355-360HP car, probably good for sub 5 second acceleration, averaging OVER 30 MPG if driven like an adult.

This represents a 10MPG jump over the current 19/27 3.7L RWD!

In any rate, calculations aside, the current, heavy - **** M35h rated at 29MPG combined is going on a diet (by being dropped in a lighter Q50, plus the Hybrid system has been tweaked (as per the articles) for this 2nd Gen system. The lighter weight and tweaked system alone will only push it past the already impressive EPA rated M35H.

2012 Infiniti M35h First Test - Motor Trend

0-60 in 5.1 seconds!

Subtract 200-300 lbs for the Q50 Hybrid, guess Infiniti has a new Guinness record breaker on their hands!

Yeah, never been so excited about a Hybrid. Lol. Once I saw how fast the M35h was when they started testing it, I knew for sure that it would make a bestly G... now Q50.

Not sure what the "modibility" of a hybrid is... but there is already a HUGE aftermarket offering for the VQ mated to this hybrid if I'm not mistaken... but being that the QX60 has a supercharger on the 2.5l 4-cyl under its hood, It may be possible to turbocharge/supercharge the Q50 Hybrid! And possibly still get around 30 MPG.

The QX60 (JX?) has a supercharged 2.5L? Where is this coming from?

Best guess for the starting MSRP for the hybrid? Sure sounds tempting.

Hybrid my guess will be a $3000 premium. That's what everyone is saying.

If the MSRP of the Q50 is 40K....and the Hybrid is 43K....I will be in a Hybrid
The gas savings alone will be incredible.

They will likely follow the Toyota model, so your looking at $7-10k more.

Isn't the price premium just $6K for the M? Should be about the same for the Q50... Still, assuming the Q50 is priced similarly to the G37, this will bring the hybrid really close to 335i and S4 prices, and those cars give you strong low-end torque without the weight and complexity of the hybrid, not to mention 6MT...

Well from what I have heard, the QX60(aka jx35) will have its hybrid option at a $3000 premium. The Current M is $6050 more over the M37. So I would hope its in the Middle ($4525), but take into consideration that the Q50 will be a volume car, I would bet on it being close to the $3k. I base that on hope and dreams, and the fact that M35h sales are down due to price and lets be honest, looks. Lol

MSRP of the current G37 is 37,250. For it to be competitive, the Q50 has to be sub $40k base msrp, even if its $39,999.99.

I cant wait to see how much torque the hybrid has, according to the specs, the hybrid system adds 199lbs, if that is true, that would be almost double the regular 3.7.
