Don't expect much power out of breather mods on a 2.5L, the 3.7's are barely extracting any.

Hey boss, I've been modifying my 2012 G25 for about 6 months now.

My friend owns a G25 and is asking me whether it can be moded exactly the same as G37 or not.. I mean like, intakes, headers, pipes, catbacks etc..

Will the mods fit the car ?? Will the engine tolerates the modifications ?? Will it improve the performance? and by how much ??

thank you

I've installed rear differential bushings, BC Racing Coilovers, ESR SR07 Wheels, Sport tires. And I've recently installed Stillen Gen 3 Cold Air intakes. My cars MAFS gave out shortly after installing the intakes made for G37, idk if its because I've never changed them, because i never really had a problem with them 😅 and or its because the car has 98,000 miles on it. I keep up with the maintenance of the vehicle. I'm gonna go ahead and buy some new MAFS tomorrow and give you guys an update afterwards 😉

How’s that update? Lol. I’ve been wondering the same thing and it seems like those are kind of the only mods available for the 25. Do you know of any more mods. I would like to go in depth and know what other options are out there for us lonely G25’s. I’ve been wanting to start the process but get easily discouraged when I can’t find that much aftermarket products. Now I do believe that it’s the same exact engine and body as the skyline 250GT in Japan lol and I don’t know how accurate that is but everything looks like it matches up pretty well I just can’t read Japanese enough to order their parts.

Just buy a VQ37VHR and swap it into a G25 or sell it and get a G37. You’re not going to get much out of a one-leg car like the G25.

So a check engine light came one, Air performance/ Out of Range code. I bought 2 different MAFS, and still a light. So I Uninstalled the Cold air intake Long Tubes, reinstall the factory air boxes. Light was gone shortly after. You can only get a Short Ram intake on the G25 unfortunately 😕. As far as performance mods goes i think that's all you can really do. Oh yeah i also had a full catback done on it Still Makes that Notorious VQ Sound 😆

For the record, the G25 has a 2.5 liter V6 rated at 218hp @6,400rpm and torque is 187ft/lbs. @4,800 rpm. Zero to sixty in 7.5 seconds. The G37 has 110 MORE hp, and 80ft/lbs MORE torque. It's like going from a BMW 328i to an M3.

G25 weighs about as much as the G37 (3,549 lbs), and still requires premium fuel. Mpg is rated at 20/29 city/highway - rwd model. Msrp was around $33k brand new.
AWD models (G25x) were available too, they're rated at 19 city/ 27 highway mpg. Weighs around 3,746 lbs and had a $35k msrp.

G25's were only made in sedan form, and aside from the motor and some good tech/sport options, you otherwise get most (like 75 to 80%) of the base G37 including the 7 speed transmission. No factory navigation or power adjustable steering column available on G25. No Sport, or Tech package available either. Awd and Journey rwd models get standard rear view camera.
Many people feel like this car made no sense when new. When new, it cost like only $1800 less than the much better equipped, waaay faster G37; and you gain 1 mpg (at a 110hp loss).

So I was one of the few who purchased the G25 back in 2011, Yes I regret it because it was super slow and had no navigation. But as you can see below I made the best of it. Lowered on Eibachs, Non Sport bumper lip , 20 inch Vossens and 12inch sub in the rear. It's been super reliable and I always service it. I ended up giving it to my wife and I now drive a 2013 G37 IPL 7AT. I would love to do the G25 to G37 swap but wouldn't know where to start.

Some guy was partaking in that sort of swap on this forum a few months ago. It looks like it would be a plug and play. I could care less about the extras a journey has over the base, in fact I would much rather prefer my G not having a sunroof/moonroof.

The G25 clarifies to me that Nissan/Infiniti’s product management function was not in a great place back then (and sadly seems to have been stuck in a rut since)

Hey there!
I could help you out with this. Just need to be informed of the amount of change it will require. Engine, Engine bay and Dash harness will need to be found as well as a NATS deleted VHR ecm.
If you are interested in more power, a 3.7 block using the G25 heads should work in theory with minimal wiring effort. It would require a tune but engine wise it will give you the power you are craving without changing the car's driveability.
Send me a PM, I live in Ft. Lauderdale.
