Want to buy '09-'10 X, things to look for?

As for leaky steering racks and bad wheel bearings, I'm not sure if they were changed for the newer model years. They usually do go bad after about 50-60k miles, from what I've seen in the g35driver forums. Leaky steering racks aren't as common, but they do happen on several occasions. Wheel bearings, however, are a common problem on our cars. Creaking noises are also very popular too, but the creaks I've experienced seem normal on my car, probably needed to lube the bushings. As for the brakes, I just changed out the pads and rotors to an aftermarket brand and they're much better. The OEM ones aren't as good, and the brake pad/rotor combination causes the judder issue pretty quickly.
My car is now 75k miles, and so far no problems so far since all that warranty work has been done. I'm still sure that if I had gotten a German car, my problems would be worse. My friend's Audi had to be in the shop more often than mine. My problems were actually more silly and cosmetic than his problems. I was pretty **** about my car so I was able to detect problems in my car far sooner than other people. My girlfriend couldn't notice any problems or sounds but I do. My wheel bearings were only mildly worn when they were replaced; I was able to detect some weird sounds coming from my tires when nobody else could hear them.

Not to bump, but an update. I am now the proud owner of a 2010 black on black G37x with the Nav package. 28k miles on it. I was very, very sad to let the RX-8 go, but so far I am liking the new ride. Now to look into (simple mods). Tinted windows and wheels first most likely. The stock Bose system is pretty good as-is.

Not sure yet. I've got to first sell my winter tires and rims that I had for my RX-8. And the weather is **** here right now, salt all over the car.

Not sure what you're looking for in terms of mileage, Lukewarm, but I bought my 2010 G37x (nav, premium) with 39K for $25,6K. It is absolutely immaculate, never smoked in, leather is perfect with a few VERY mild stress marks on the driver seat and no stress marks at all on the passenger or rears. Vibrant red with only a little, normal chipping on the front (which I promptly took care of by bashing her into the rear of a 96 mercury sable, but that's another story).
You don't have to pay even close to $30K to get a pristine x. Keep looking.
