Fun something to look out for with Park switch

so my wife calls me and tells me the car won't start, (it only has 3900 miles on it). just in case i grabbed a booster pack and went out there figuring somehow the battery went dead. tried boosting it, nothing...

I then try putting the car into drive then back into park, try starting it again, bam she starts

Anyone else have this as an issue?

Are you completely sure it was shifted all the way into park when trying to start it initially? If you are 100% certain it was, then the shift interlock switch may be bad. But it's very unusual for this to happen on a new car, it sometimes happens on very old cars.

It appeared to be anyway, i can tell you that it was in the P position an the little orange led was lit up beside the P. (this was my wife remember so maybe she didn't have it all the way for that switch to be made). All i know is when i shifted it to drive, then went back to park and pressed the start button it fired up right way. There was no messages on the guage cluster to indicate it wasn't in park...
A buddy of mine had this happen before but he actually had his in drive, that is the only reason why i figured i would give the park to drive and back a shot.
