Sick

No, not that kind of sick.

Only had it two weeks. Everytime I think about it...ugh.

The blessings...

1) No one was hurt
2) Local body shop is the best in the state. They absolutely work miracles.
3) I have great insurance.
4) I'll swap out the chrome grill for a midnight

Still man...just SUCKS.

Sorry to see that =(, hope it gets fixed up quick and good as new.

If you like the look of the sport bumper better might be a good time to swap as well

I know I can research it, but if anyone knows off the top of your head...what's the price difference between replacing the non-sport bumper vs. going with the sport bumper?

What year is the car 10-13?

An unprimed 2011 G37S bumper and G37 Journey front bumper are both ~$260

Yep, car is 2010. Thanks rpm!

Would have preferred not to wreck it (duh), but the front of the car could come out looking nice in the end.

What caused the shunt? Anything to be learned to avoid another one after you get it fixed?

Basically, dumbassery on my part is to blame. But a brief synopsis...

- 2 lane road, lined with houses
- lady backing out of her driveway at a much higher rate of speed than is called for
- I'm looking at this lady, trying to figure out if she's going to back out in front of me
- By the time I see her brake lights and look back ahead of me, it's too late for me to avoid the guy stopped in my lane, waiting to make a left

I was able to get the wheel turned such that I kind of glanced off of him (yes, I know that looks like more than a "glance") toward the ditch, then straighten the car so that I didn't slam into the ditch and do more damage. Wound up parallel to the road, 2/3 of the car in the ditch.

Went by the body shop yesterday and they had the car parked facing the road with the bumper and grill removed. I studied it for a good while, and I can't see any damage whatsoever to the radiator. I think the basic rundown of what I'm looking at is...

- New bumper
- New grill area
- New hood
- New driver-side front fender
- New driver's headlamp and fog
- Maybe a new driver's door

I drove it for a while that night and the following morning. It drives like it has since I bought it. I don't detect any alignment issues at all. I'm pretty sure the list above constitutes everything that will be needed. Not that that's an inexpensive list.

Glad you are okay and only sheet metal was damaged.

Sounds like you know the lapse in judgement that led to the fender bender. Both my kids were involved in at fault accidents without thankfully no injuries, but it set me over the deep edge.

Car will be fixed and life moves on.

Finally.

Repair shop did a phenomenal job (they always have). I know the Sport needs to have some exclusivity, but I can't figure out why this isn't the only grill offered on Gs. Chrome is an accent.

Anyhow, it's nice to have my girl back.
