^^^ F30 328 still makes less torque than G37, does it? It might be lighter but not much. And it has to press the sport button every time to be anything that close to a G37.

Indeed the emotional aspect of the car is huge for me, but as the others have stated, the 335 is way underrated. And the 335i*s* is yet faster than the regular model. If I were to venture a guess I'd say somewhere around 350 crank, with a much flatter torque curve. It's actually not a close comparison to the G...

No. The 328i makes about 10% more torque than the G37 in low to mid RPMs, and then the G37 has the advantage at high RPMs (5K or more), but that matters less.

The other comparison i can't believe i left out is the lack of a limited slip diff on the 335. Sure, the Gs is a lowly fluidic Torsen, but it's better than an open diff.

BMW decided a while back that only its M cars would cone with proper LSDs- a strategic move no doubt... But its one that has stick in three craw of buyers of their higher performance non-M models.

This car in particular really needs it. I will either be getting a Wavetrac or clutch type like a Giken.

They aren't clear in the literature about when the overboost is applied, but I'm pretty sure it's only during launch control, which is a bit of a joke because of the aforementioned lack of an LSD.

But even under "normal" operating conditions I think the torque is up 20 or 30 ft-lbs on the regular model. Again, recognizing that BMW's crank figures are usually close to their wheel numbers (rear: underrated about 20%).

So yeah, it's kinda fast.

PS, a good "chip" from Burger Tuning or Vishnu can almost immediately put you in the 400/400 realm. I'm going to do that, and meth injection for track duty as it keeps the temps down (then you don't have to add external cooling capacity).
