My suggestion would be to just use a touch up pen to fix it. I had a good size one on the front of my car and I used a touch up pen from the dealership and unless you knew it was there and were looking hard for it you can't notice it. I was skeptical about using a touch up pen because the chip was about a 1/4 of an inch in size, one of the first things I noticed when I was looking at purchasing my car, but I am very satisfied with the results. Just make sure you read the directions.

I doubt it, but I know in my last car someone opened their door into my car and I guess a few people got in while their door was still resting against my door and some how left a nice check mark in my black paint, so anything is possible.

Edit: Probably what happened is your door was opened and rested against a rough surface. That would be my bet.

Dr colorchip works best for chips on metal body parts, I tried using it for the bumper cover and it's not too great. The reason the plastic body parts don't turn out well is the bumper cover is a somewhat softer plastic and when it gets hit by rocks it craters and the edges are actually raised from the vehicle, making it nearly impossible to get a clean surface.

So if just the surface is marked up from either chips or whatever what's the best thing to use so I can't even notice them anymore and protect the little areas where the paint chipped?

I would suggest the Turtle Wax Scratch Repair Kit for scratches, see video below. For deeper scratched or chips I would recommend a touch up paint, I wont recommend something I haven't tried which is why I haven't said anything about the Dr. Colorchip, but you could try the Dr. Colorchip and if it doesn't work just use a touch up pen over it.

Correct. They should ask you for your VIN and they will match the paint up that way, if they don't ask for it then give it to them anyway just to make sure.

It really depends. When you apply the touch up paint you want to do it in small amounts at a time, you can always add more if needed but it can be difficult to take it away if there is too much. Its hard to really give you a yes or a no answer without seeing the marks you are referring to.

Has anyone had any luck with Dr ColorChip or the other chip repair product now showing on TV? The demo you see on TV seems way to easy to believe. thx
