4 year warranty almost up....

My 4 year warranty will be up this spring 2013,and although I only have about 55k on the car,it has been flawless. Still feels new, except for a few paint chips on the front,(that's another thread),and I would like to take it to the stealership to have it checked out for any last minute (free) warranty items.
My only complaint has been the sluggish 7 speed tranny, and I would like that to be reflashed, but I'm sure they "never heard of such a thing".
Any advise on what I should have them go over, without giving them total free will to run up the bill?
Anyone have the 7T reflash bulletin number also?

Will they try and soak me for a brake job at this time?

Thanks for your suggestions and help .

The TSB is on the first page of this thread, Got mine done a while back and am much happier w/ the AT. Getting new rotors and pads and doing your own brakes is pretty easy, or a trusted mechanic shouldn't charge much for new brakes.

My suggestion is that you dial back the cynicism. If you expect to get ripped off, then you'll rarely be disappointed and it will be deservedly so. You're sure they never heard of the 7AT issue... but have you asked? There's an obvious predisposition for distrust when you use words like "stealership", and the expectation that you'll be a victim of some vaguely defined brake job. It's better to expect quality service and be occasionally disappointed, than it is to expect poor service and get same crappy attitude reflected right back.

Karma, baby. You have to give it to get it.

I'd recommend an extended warranty specially if you drive aggressively. It'd cost $1-2000, but at least you have peace of mind.

Check your sunroof seal trim. My 4 year just came up and the last thing I had done under bumper to bumper warranty was a new sunroof, and new door seals. The entire sunroof assembly was replaced due to cracking around the outside perimeter of the sunroof seal trim piece. It looked like a few hundred tiny crack lines spaced about 3-4mm apart. I posted photos in a previous post a couple months ago so search if you need more detail. The door seals had small tears in them, just the front two. But they replaced all four anyways.

Oh, and about the brake job - if they do try and "soak" you, politely decline and take it home to DIY, or to a trusted independent for half the price.

Thanks for that, I haven't checked my sunroof on my 09. Our 07 had the sunroof TSB applied and I assumed they fixed that issue for the 09s, guess I'd better get lookin'.

I just got a printout of the TSB and it came up with 25 hits. Can I just take this list into the dealership and ask them to look at everything on the list under the warranty? How can I be sure that everything was actually inspected and replaced if needed?

edit: I noticed my car would shift very hard in stop-and-go traffic but didn't know it was a known computer issue until just today so I would definitely like to get mine looked at as well. I have a little over 57,000 miles on my car so I need to get this done soon under warranty I hope.

edit 2: what other things should I have the dealer look at right before warranty ends? I checked the door seals and they all seem to be perfect (no cracking or anything). Not sure what else to look for.

Thanks for all the input so far.
The last time I was at the "dealership",they have never heard of the tranny reflash, and had no update on software issues (4 months ago)
They told me I should have a brake service which consisted on cleaning and lubing the calipers ($190),but I told them maybe next time....

You can see why I'm a little cynical...

But thanks to everyone for their constructive input, just wondering if there are any other common issues that I should have inspected and repaired before the warranty expires.

RUsum1,

What did you have to do to get the TSB printout? Did you have to pay a subscription fee? I have a 2009 that I would like to get a prinout for. Thanks GF

It might not be the right thing, but when I Googled "TSB" (I had no idea what that even meant) there was this link as one of the results. There I entered my vehicle info and it came up with a list of things which it allowed me to print.
