No chime. only honk or no honk

I have a 2011 model.

I recently diconnted the battery to work on my car.

When I reconnected the battery I noticed my chime was gone.
Im talking about the chime the car makes when you lock the door using the button on the out side of either door.

I tried holding the lock and unlock buttons for 5 seconds but I can only get the honk or no honk function.

The door will lock with the outside button but it wont make the chime.

Any ideas?

does your climate control stay on the same settings from the previous time you drove the car? if not look at your fuses in the kickpanel. there should be a fuse if i remember correctly one in the middle. you more than likely touched the lead to other metal and tripped the fuse. there should be some extras in there of the same amperage.

source: this has happened to me before

Climate controls are fine.
I'll check the radio settings.

In my knowledge, when u lock the car via the handle button, it just makes the indicator lights flash. no honks. It honks only when u lock it by the remote..
Mine is 2010 and it's doing so..

Or u might mean that it even doesn't flashes the indicator lights ??

regards

When you hit the button on the doors it should make a chime. its a preference whether to have it chime or not. its not a beep from the horn. there is a setting somewere in the info center to turn that on or off.

How loud is the chime? I have never heard anything since day one I had it. Yes, I have followed every steps in the menu, and tried all possibility with no avail.

It will only beep with the door handle button if you have the horn honk with the key fob activated.

I didn't know it chimed when locking or unlocking the doors until I got hearing aids. I can't even hear the turn signal sound without hearing aids. Maybe that's your problem.

Okay so you guys were right, there is no option to turn it on and off i just looked sorry!!. but the chime sounds kinda like when you get out of the car with the key in your pocket and the engine still running. well at least mine makes a noise to let me know the key. the chime is like the sound of a audi or lexus when locking the doors. I cant believe some of you never heard it haha. and its not new because my 2005 with the intelli key had the sound.

Again, if you've turned the horn off by holding the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob, the beep when you hit the button on the door handle will not be on. There is no option on the nav screen for this.

Both my G and my Z do this. I hate the honking when I lock the car so I always use the button and let it cime. If it didn't chime it would be hard to tell if you locked or unlocked it. If you press once it will unlock the door you are at, if right away you press it a second time it will unlock the other door (at least on the coupes). It chimes once when unlocking, and twice when locking. Love this feature on my cars.

LOL... me too. Hate the honk for how it sounds the same as the Civic parking next to you. If the chime does exist, I would be embarrassed by how the door lock's mechanical clanking sounds louder than the chime, that's how I decide the car is locked.
