Can't Add Phone Numbers 2012 g37 Sedan

2012 G37X Sport with premium package (sedan).

The system recognizes my phone, which I can use hands free, but not only will it not access the phone book from the phone, but I cannot manually add phone numbers to the phone book. I get to the phonebook (which has no names in it), but there is no tab to "Add New." I can only speak the numbers and then ask to dial, or access recently called or received numbers.

Tried searching the forums in vain, to no avail. Sorry if I missed this discussion elsewhere.

Are you trying to add the phone number while parked?

Yes, the car was running and in "park."

Did you import your phonebook first?

Tried, but it wouldn't work. The phone (LG Rumour...older bit of junk), says it will do this, but it did not work. The car recognizes the phone and I can use it to make calls if I speak the number. The manual states that I should be able to add numbers manually even if I cannot upload my phone book, but I never get the Add New icon in the phone book.

Due to the age, that phone probably doesn't have the correct bluetooth profile built in.
Geez, phones are practically free these days. Time to update?

Do you see two phonebooks--the one built-in to the car and the (empty, not working) one where your phone contacts should be? Make sure you are trying to put entries into the car phonebook.

hit the phone button then go to handset phonebook, what happens? You may need to update your phone too.
