OEM trunk spoiler install

OEM trunk spoiler install
Hey Everyone,
Got around to installing my trunk spoiler. Took about 1 1/2 hours. The template really makes it pretty easy. I didn't drill the end holes as I didn't want to drill into the trunk in the event I went back to the chrome spoiler. The double sided tape (already attatched) on the very ends secures it well enough. I did however drill 3 holes where the previous chrome spoiler was located. Prior to screwing your trunk release button and or camera back in the bracket, make sure they are centered with the holes.
What was needed:
1. Blue tape or masking tape.
2. Small screwdriver.
3. Small Phillips.
4. Socket set (sizes indicated on instructions).
5. Drill and drill bits (sizes indicated on instructions).
6. Metal primer (coat the holes that were drilled).
7. Alcohol.
If anyone's on the fence whether they should go with a third party install or if they should do it themselves, I think a DYI is pretty easy.
Thanks go out to Michael with Tunerz_store. Best price I've found.

Yeah, I'm really liking the spoiler. It seems to complete the back of my G. As far as the wheels, they are the 2012 18" wheel package option. I like them but planning on getting new wheels within a few months. If I decide to keep them, I'll just get some spacers.

So glad mine already had the OEM duckbill, otherwise I would have done exactly what the OP did. Back then, I was even researching spoiler cost/installations before finding the car, because it just looks that much better than otherwise.

Looks really good!
Can't beat the OEM fitment and quality. I thought I already had my mind made up to get the Carbonsignal duckbill spoiler because it has a more aggressive profile, but when I see pics like yours, it makes me revert back to OEM.

Yep, OEM FTW! Looks great OP. Any plans to debadge some of the lettering back there, really cleans it up IMO. At any rate, nice work (also a member of the "I didn't drill the outside holes either" club )

Thanks blnewt. FTW is right. I've been really contemplating whether to debadge or not. I like how clean it looks too but the "conservative" look is what I've been shooting for. But I think debadged can still offer what I'm trying to accomplish. If i do, i'll probably leave the Mt Fuji emblem. I'd like to lower the emblem an inch or two as well (just don't how to do it yet). Can you post or PM a pic of your debadged trunk?

Thanks jdmposer. Yeah I like the CF duckbill spoiler but the OEM fits what I was looking for. I really believe you can't go wrong either way. Just get what you want so that you don't look back and think..."man, I should have...".
