closeup of my Tanabe.
And for people that try to tell you it is no different from stock, it is definitely not the case. True, it is not obnoxiously loud as some catback systems. But you can definitely notice it after it breaks in. I had a G37 loaner a couple weeks ago and that thing is so quiet compared to mine. So if you are looking for something that is slightly louder and deeper with a more mature sound, this is good. If you are one who is looking for a loud exhaust that you can hear from a block away or want to set off every car alarm in a parking structure, this is not it.

I've had the Tanabe exhaust on my G since my car was almost new, so almost 4 years now. I actually did a full review of the exhaust with install pics on G35Driver (see below link). I was very happy with the exhuast when I first installed it without any other mods (sans an intake). The exhuast note is very deep and slightly louder than stock with little to no drone. It's just loud enough that my wife even noticed the difference the first time she was in the car and she didn't even know I changed the exhuast (Note: as other have mentioned it does take about 500 miles for the exhaust to fully "break-in", so IMO the sound actually gets better after the original install). I then installed BERK HFC's and they just enhanced the sound of the Tanabe by adding a little volume with only a slight amount of drone on the freeway. Then I went and added the Invidia X-Pipe and Resonators to the exhaust. This is where I went wrong (at least IMO). I was actually very happy with the sound at first. It's very aggressive and the drone it only has minimal drone at 2500 - 3000 RPM's and only under heavy load, but after a couple of years the volume level has finally gotten to me and I really want to go back to the way it was before. I'm now GTM supercharged so I no longer care about the extra 10HP I got from the HFC's and x-pipe/resonators... so my plan is to put the stock cats back in, sell my exhaust as I have it now (Tabana axle back, Invidia x-pipe, Invidia resonator section, and custom pipes) and wtich back to Tanabe axle back and maybe just add the Tanabe Y-pipe while still retaining the factory resonators.
So in summary, I believe you will be happy with just the Tanabe axle back by itself, but it you ever desire a little more aggressive exhuast note in the future then you can always modify your set-up to suite your needs... you won't be stuck.
It's really too bad you don't live closer. I'd sell you my set up, but it would cost a fortune to ship I imagine.

I have the Tanabe axle-back. I've had it about 2 years. I love it! The sound reminds me of the big muscle cars I loved when I was a kid. The sound is a bit louder than stock--my wife thinks it's too loud. It doesn't sound like a ricer--which I hate. It's a little louder. Much more deep sounding than the others. I love it. Tastes vary.

Nice G!,
OP - There is a member of this forum who is selling his Tanabe exhaust within the classified section. Check that out. Barely used and something came up for him, so he has to get rid of it.

Guys...thanks so much for all the responses. I dropped the hammer and placed an order for the Tanabe based on everyones feedback...again I appreciate it very much.
Now, as for the install, it looks pretty straight forward. The only part thats seems like a pain in the a$$ looks to be getting the 2 hangers on the muffler off the rubber piece. Whats the best and easiest way to do this? Is there any special tool required to pull the hanger off the rubber? Do you remove the hangers first or remove the exhaust bolts? Also, I see that most people just jack the back of the car first...I was just going to back up on ramps...will that give me the clearance that I need to do this?
