"The car is gonna have a mercedes chassis booo" <---Yes it will, but it is COMPLETELY changed in every single aspect from a Mercedes BY infiniti that NOTHING is the same. It is just a wider, low slung chassis that is going to run circles around the current G.

"The car is ugly, look at that grill, boooo" <---The look will be similar to the Infiniti M. Last time I checked, that car was beautiful with an organic tone to it that flows very smoothly.

"Omg the car is so ugly even though it is completely hidden under an inch of camo boooooo" <--Heres a novel idea, lets wait until official pics are released.

"The VQ37 is a fantastic motor, they should just keep it! boooo" <---Unfortunately peeps, the VQ37 is too big, too rough, too noisey, and too thirsty for the current market segment. With cars like the 328i, and ATS 2.0t getting 0-60 in under 6 seconds with 31+mpg on the highway, it makes the G look hella outdated and hella unnecessary. New powertrains are a MUST.

"The car is so ugly, it will never look better than my 07-12 G sedan!! boooo" <---Let me guess, you drove a first gen G sedan before this car, and let me guess, if I search your posts and see them in threads revealing the 2nd gen g sedan, you probably said the SAME THING.

If this new G has a better interior that doesnt warp the dashboard, peel the door handles, rattle like a bastard, all while having a smaller V6 turbo with 300-330hp and hits 0-60 in 5.5 seconds while managing 30+mpg on the freeway thats hooked up to a lively, and taught chassis thats a dream to throw around, it will guarantee to be a hit.

You guys just need some patience lol. Infiniti generally doesn't **** **** up when it pops out a new model, especially their highest selling vehicle that they have had 7 years to produce.

And im off my soap box.
Clapping and quoted, so that people re-read it.

I'm totally reserving opinion on the 2014 G until it's released. Everything until that point is just noise. And truth be told, I'll be more interested in the next-next generation G than this one... knock on wood.

2021, I suppose. You know, the electric G.

Where are you getting all this info from? Do you work at Infiniti Product Planning? There is no official info released about the chassis or powertrain of this vehicle.

At worst, though, it could be a bizarre oddity like the Etherea concept... or a pimped out mommy car like the JX.
Lets hope Infiniti comes to it's senses and makes a truly worthy G.
I like the Infiniti as it stands and don't think it's outdated at all. I'm not saying it doesn't have to be updated but describing it as out dated and tired...I don't agree.

Yes, Infiniti should put the GTR engine and drivetrain in the g. Update the looks, provide 7 series tech toys with Infiniti reliability and sell it at the price of an Elentra.

The don't have to beat BMW, just make it good enough for 2014.

wannabesport is pretty much correct in the statements he made. These cars will not have a mercedes engine in them. Nor is it just a mercedes chassis.

Also to the people griping about the front grill, it won't look quite like that when revealed.

Also don't forget, the mpg issue will also be resolved with the g35h. If some of you don't know this is the same drivetrain in the m35h, which at this point is the world's fastest production 4 door hybrid. So expect it to be a beast in a G.

Yes the 328i is better with gas mileage and isn't slow, but it also is not a comparable vehicle to the G37, that is what the replacement for the G25 is for. They are not going to make the G37 slower, thats just a BMW thing

IN any case, just wait for the release in Detroit, most if not all of your answers will be responded to there.

If he was really an insider then he wouldn't have said this:

I heard that the new G will have a very sofisticated ignition system, where the push start button will only start the car for those of us who are truly worthy.
For all others, the car will self destruct within 3 sec.

Also, the convenience package is getting an additional feature - an extra large glove box with a midget inside it mixing drinks.

I have my sources.

This is hilarious!! Guys, just google 2014 G37 sedan and you'll find what the plans are...

Chassis: yes, Benz. If you've driven the new C-sport, it feels better than my 11 G before my suspension upgrades...

Engine: Direct injection...no 4 banger, sticking with the design of the VQ. IPL version will be twin turbo 450+ hp to rival AMG/BMW M series...Non IPL's will be 350+ hp

Body: There are some style changes, but the president is on record as saying it's based on the current 2011-12 body.

I have an 11...and I'm excited to see the new ones. But more excited to see the IPL version coupe! and to some of y'all that keep yapping about this entire "obsolete" thing - I'm sorry, but outside of the Audi A4/S4 body, I don't see any other body styles that are as classic looking as what I have now. Even the 3 series is ugly both the current and last gen (but that 3 series engine still makes me drool)... And that's no rationalization...

Makes sense, and about time.

And I'd be shocked if the 2-pedal G doesn't get a dual-clutch.

Not sure who posted this originally, but I recall I have also read about this from a creditable publishing. MT, CD? But you sounds like an official announcement?

The current trend of migrating to turbo 4 is more of a fashion statement and the result of government regulation for more MPG, it may make a big come back 10 years later when things changed.

I don't see any performance number for the ATS 2.0t, but when the 321hp top of the line V6 only gets 5.7 sec, it is tough for the 2.0t be anywhere close to it. Care to share your source?
