That Fusion is a sweet design. All baby-Aston Martin like.
My friend just bought one. While I'm unimpressed with the itsy-bitsy EcoBoost, and the blah interior, that car is so packed full with electronic gadgets that it makes my loaded G37 seem positively mundane.

Put the pipe down and get some help. Other than having an instrument cluster, a steering wheel, and bucket seats, nothing is even close to being the same.
The outgoing dash is more "square" The new one sweeps gently in a curvy arc right into the doors.
The steering wheel is vastly different.
The center stack is more V shaped.
Door switches are in a completely different place.
Instrument layout is significantly different.
Cupholders are outside the center console not inside.
And very lamentably, the signature analog clock is missing (I hate that part)

Final thoughts, sure. But first impressions are fair game. And I have to say, my first impressions are not good ones. As for drive-train, it's a super safe bet that it will be the same 3.7L VVEL until a mid-model refresh. Because that's now NISSAN/Infiniti rolls.
However, I am looking forward to test-driving a 6MT Sport Sedan. No, wait, I forgot... my dealership refuses to stock the 6MT. And we won't know until Monday if it's even offered anymore.

On another note, I think some peoples expectations are thoroughly unrealistic. This is a redesign of a current established model, not a completely different car altogether. The things that some people expected might change are just crazy. Fresh sheet metal. Check. New front and rear facias. Yes. Restyled (not reinvented) interior design. It's there. New engine and drivetrain? Dont know yet. Maybe. That's what happens when a car gets a redesign. They don't reinvent the wheel, especially on a very capable car that's already selling fairly well.
Of course it looks a lot like the M and every other Infiniti model. Brand recognition. Of course it looks a lot like Nissan Models. The same way a Lexus looks similar tot he Toyota equivalent that it's upline form. Do Lexus guys complain that the ES looks just like the Camry? I don't know.
