not so sure... it's a viable way to meet the latest fuel economy requirements while still producing the power. Why do you think most other automakers are going in this direction? Downsize the displacement and add turbo for power when you want it. If the turbo size is matched well, lag is minimal....
IMO BMW anticipated this brilliantly with their N54 engine. Remember how much noise there was when Bimmer announced that?!

Yeah, but they're all doing it with turbo-4's. Unless Nissan slaps a turbo on that tiny 2.5L V6 in the G25, but I just don't see it because that little V6 didn't exactly excel at high MPG.
I really don't know what Nissan will do, because while these little turbo-4's are nice, few (Hi, Porsche) can achieve the 330 hp that we're used to.

I'm going to do something wild and and inject something factual into this thread.
The 2014 Infiniti G37 Will Debut In Detroit
New Infiniti G Series to debut at 2013 Detroit Auto Show
In January 2013 at Detroit we'll know something. Until then it's all speculation and hypothesis.

Ah, the sky is falling once again.
It's funny to read the forums when a new body style/iteration hits, but what's funnier is to see people condemning this without having seen it sans-camo.
When the G37 hit, the G35 crowd were screaming as though Infiniti had sullied the brand, that the car was "seriously ugly" and that they would "pass".
Cue each generation and whether it was minor cosmetic changes (like the current Sport rims on the Coupe, which I own and love), or major shifts, the reactions are so knee-jerk at times, it honestly makes me laugh.
I can appreciate passion, as I am a passionate person about a great many things in life, my car included. I just wait people would wait before taking a big dump all over a product that they haven't fully seen, or before any major mechanical details have been revealed.
Now, I'm very interested in the full reveal of the sedan, and while the comment about the Infiniti line-up losing it's signature growl due to the use of Mercedes engines makes me a little nervous, I can't imagine Infiniti casting away what is basically their signature identifier simply because of a partnership with Mercedes. We shall see in January...

I'm pretty sure most folks here recognize that you can't really know how something is going to look until its finalized, but that doesn't mean reasonably intelligent people can't deduce some of that from spy shots. At the very least, it's fun to ruminate.
I don't see the harm in it, but I everyone's got hangups- I know I do!

Oh I agree, but there's a finality to their opinion on something we haven't even fully seen. And while it is fun to imagine, chat and deduce from the little crumbs we're given, I think it's more than prudent to wait until we have the whole picture before dismissing the next-gen.
But that's just my hangup as I don't judge a film until I've actually seen it, and likewise a car until the camo is off and we know what is under the hood (and how it drives).

This is a discussion forum. I don't see too much in this thread that doesn't go to the spirit of that fact.

For the love of god it isn't using a Mercedes engine in the NA market LOL
What engine would they use? Mercedes weak 3.5 V6? Yea no. They traded some stuff to get a diesel engine to use in Europe. Its been discussed previously. If anything, they will be downsizing the VQ and refining it a bit while making more power.

Well 2.5 months remaining. But before then Im sure more leaks will happen. Infiniti knows that it aims for performance first than luxury. It differs itself from Acura and Lexus. I doubt they will want to hurt performance on the G-Sedan or Coupe.
Nismo Juke Turbo anyone? LOL
