Top-Speed Exhaust Tips Thread.

Well with the recent dilemma going on with the group buy, I have no choice but to find tips for the exhaust itself. But without going into further details with that, here is some information I got from a helpful member.

Excuse any terminology.

Measurements:

'Short Pipe' - OD - considered to be after canister and beginning of exhaust tip. 2.25. Length = 3.5

Exhaust tips itself. 4" in diameter.

10" from canister to to exhaust tip jagged edge. Tip itself is 6.5 Inches.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now I have the following tips I saw on Magnaflow. My only thing is 'magnaflow on them'. But specs are good for what they are.

Diameter: 3.5in.
I.D. Inlet: 2.75in.
Length: 9.5in.
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...=main&id=10696

Diameter: 3.5in.
I.D. Inlet: 2.75in.
Length: 9.5in.

I feel any of these would work. For the length, it was measured at 10' from inlet end to exhaust tip jagged edge.

SO even with a 12", you still have room on the inlet itself to push the tip all the way back to the canister.

I dont think 3.5 inch should be that much of a difference compared to 4'. I could be wrong though.

If anyone else better tips or suggestions, feel free to post. Thanks.

Pictures guys just for references and the install itself.

negative....i said 10" from base weld of canister and short pipe to the tip (the entire length after canister). the tip itself is not 10". its 6.5". and 2.25" is the OD (outside diameter) of the short pipe, not the length. length is 3.5" from weld to weld. sorry if it confused you. don't want you to get the wrong tips.

I contacted Tony at Fast Intentions to see if their tips would work. He is asking me to email him the current specs. After reading the above post this is what I gathered:

Inlet OD - 2.25"
Outlet OD - 4"
Length - 6.5"

He said if he didn't have anything in stock then he would quote me on custom. Stay tuned!

yes with one exception. the inlet inside diameter is 2.25" as the pipe that is 2.25" OD must fit inside. sounds like it could be niiiice. let us know.

Unfortunately, the tips that go with their exhaust have a 2.5" inlet, but I'll wait to hear back from him.

I don't have the specs on the invidia exhaust tips, but they too offer some decent rolled tips (see the invidia exhaust threads). Their tips attach to their mufflers by way of a split cut in the tip tube. A round clamp then secures it to the exit tube of the muffler. Clamp is hidden and out of sight.

Maybe give them a call? http://www.invidia-usa.com

Interesting. I got my exhaust put on. I will measure specs in the morning to confirm as well. But anyone see anything in particular that they like?

Cool that you guys are getting together to make you new exhausts "Infinti-Worthy" FYI, my TopSpeed rolled tips are 4.5" OD. Looks like you've got some decent solutions. Sounds like those that have these installed are really liking the sound right?

It's not that the tips aren't "Infiniti-worthy"...it's the fact it's the fact the the edges of the tips look like complete crap compared to your rolled tips. They are far from "straight cut" tips. I literally cut my finger on the passenger exhaust tip while unpacking my exhaust, that how noticeably jagged mine are.

Although I'll probably leave mine as they are for awhile. Just need to get my driver side muffler centered up.

does the length/thickness of the tip change the tone of the exhaust at all?

+1 i too appreciate the effort you guys are putting into this. It just blows my mind that we have to put "elbow grease" on a brand new product. Lol

Has anyone contacted Cyba on the e90 forum? I know someone posted a link on the other thread Top Speed thread and tried to pm him but i never heard back because of the user account restrictions that they impose.
