Review of Invidia Q300

I just brought an Invidia exhaust for my 2008 G35 sedan 2nd generation. The exhaust is 2nd hand. When I first open the boxes I see that the welding of the exhaust and the quality look great and I was really excited to do the installation.

Disappointment comes after I do the installation as dispite the widen piping of the cat back exhaust, the car actually sound like stock and extermly quiet without any exhaust note. My old set up with OEM y-pipe and midpipe with custom Maganaflow muffler sounds much much much louder than the Invidia Q300.

On the up side, I do feel some power gains, the car do accelerate smoother throughout the revs, however, if anyone of you are wishing to get a louder exhaust, the Invidia cat back exhaust is not for you, and this exhaust must pair with test pipes or High flow cats to actually make any sound out of it. If anyone of you are look for a pair of CBE with minimal gain of noise and power gain, this will be the exhaust for you.

Good that I brought it 2nd hand with an ok price, if I brought it new for around $1000, I would be so **** about my purchase.

Invidia owner, please leave some comment on how you feel about the exhaust.

Sorry you don't like your new used exhaust.

I'm trying to be a jerk, but did you do any kind of research on it before you purchased it? Just quickly I looked in one place on here I knew there would be a sound clip and found it to be a little quiet. Just curious if You just bought it merely because of price, or if you did research first.

I think it sounds just fine. At low rpm (<3K), it's ever so slightly louder than stock. At higher revs, the exhaust note comes alive. I've test driven cars with loud exhausts and found them annoying. If you only drive locally and never go far, then that may not be a problem. The last thing I want to be bothered by on a long road trip is a loud exhaust.

I had the Q300 on my Coupe for quite a while. I posted quite a while ago that this was probably the quietest full cat back available for our platform, this shouldn't have come as any surprise. Yes, mine did make decent gains. However when pairing it with HFC the pronounced hiss and rasp were annoying over time. The quality of materials and construction are excellent. The price is also great. If you don't have HFC or test pipes and want quiet and don't want to spend a lot for a quality part, this is the system for you.

I actually like the fact that it isn't much louder than stock. Gives it a little more grunt without being in your face. Consider resonated test pipes to give some more volume to it.

I did do some research but I believe none of them talk about the volume of the exhaust...if I knew I wouldn't purchase it lol

I do enjoy the feeling of the gains though

thats a great way to **** $1000 away. the exhaust was designed the way it is for a reason. alot of R&D went into how the piping was run and shaped, and hacking it up is only going to give you worse gains and most likely a bastardized sound. how old is the exhaust? it might need some breaking in. if you really want to spend money to make it better get some HFCs.

^^Good point about breaking in. After about 500 miles, mine got marginally louder throughout the rev range. I think the OP wants something louder yet.

I love the sound of my invidia. Of course it came alive after a good 1000 miles or so. I also have gtm rtps. The sound is perfect. Far from sounding anything close to stock and I get compliments on my exhaust all the time.

Yeah i was mad when i bought mine too! I got it new basically, but next day i bought used invidia test pipes so it sounds alot better now. Basically in 6th gear i cant even hear that i have an exhaust. To me i wish it was just a bit louder but man it's so nice to not have any drone lol. Here's a comparison i went from a g37x with greddy exhaust with berk hfc to this. Here's a video..
