Need Opinions on Tint %
Hi everyone,
I just booked an appointment to get my back 5 car windows tinted, and I need some opinions. The color of my car is Smoky Quartz, so I'm not sure what percentage of tint would look the best. Any thoughts from SQ owners?
FYI: In my state you cannot tint the front windows at all, and the rear max is 35%.
Thanks!

Was going to say 35% looks pretty good all around until I read which state you're from.
That really sucks, and I'm complaining because I can't have more than 50% in the front.

I would say 35% all the way around because it looks good and cops usually wont bother you about it. If you want to take a risk I would go 20% nothing darker than that. I have friends with 20% and have never had a ticket! I have 35% which is legal in IL and never questioned.

My front windows are 20% and the rear windows and back glass are 5%.
In Texas there is no limit on the back and rear glass.
I thought it would be to dark but its perfect.
Gives your rear passengers a privacy feel.

I did 20% in the doors and 35% on the back windshield. Looking back(no pun intended) I should of gone 5% in the doors.

My smokey quartz is 35% front 25% back. Cant really tell that front is different from the back...surprising, I know. Had 25% all around on the previous car. Wife has 15% all around...too dark at night and makes it a little hard to see.

Depends on your interior color as well. Darker color interior with a darker film tint, will make it harder to see from outside in compared to a light color due to the contrast in daylight.
I had 5% all around on my G35 <- never again. On the G37 I have 15% Carbon Tint which is darker than normal 15% and is still good.
For the front, be careful due to laws and insurance purposes.

I have a 2011 Smoky Quartz sedan as well and was gonna post the same question; but OP beat me to it. Oh well..
Thanks baksdak for the pic of 35% tint on an SQ. I think it looks exactly how I want mine to look. IMO 35% tint is a perfect 3-way (yeah i said it) compromise between 1. sun/UV protection 2. being not so dark to get a ticket from the cops 3. keeping fair visibility at night.
