12' g37x White Sedan - $2k budget. What would you do?

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forums, as you may notice.

I recently got my g37x, and now I'm ready to mod it a little.
I have a $2k-$2.5k budget, and 0 experience in mods, haha.

Since many of you have substantially more experience than I do, what would be your top mods for this budget?
So far I have looked at R2C Intake and Hothkis Sway Bars, am I even in the right direction? Are those worth it?
Thanks in advance.

OBS: I've read through so many posts, but many of them recommend a single mod in every post, and it's hard to build a bigger picture, even after reading many of them.

What is your goal? You want to go for looks, horsepower increase or better handling?

If you put those in order of preference the suggestions will be targeted towards your goal.

Can I say a mixture?

Hi Paneraiguy, thanks for the quick reply.

I think I may say, I'm looking for a mixture, not really worried about performance, as I recently upgraded from a 2005 Mazda MPV Minivan hahaha, so I'm still adjusting to it.

I'd rank rank my preferences as:

1. Looks
2. Performance
3. Handling

The only thing I have done so far is tint my windows all the way, but that's about it ... other than that, car is stock.

Thanks again.

Tint
Debadge (free)
Coilovers ($995)
Stillen gen 3 intake ($500)
SPC Camber kit ($250)

or else you can blow it all on wheels.

That's a good list, intakes don't do much over stock, but look nice under the hood and add a nice sound above 4k rpm. If you go w/ coilovers you'll probably need both a F&R camber kit, so around $525 unless you have the coilovers set for a milder drop. If TopSpeed starts stocking their exhausts again that would be a good option on a budget, I love mine and they were about $400-450 shipped. If you just do a Swift spring drop you'll be about $700-800 under the coilovers, but coilovers really are the way to go if you can fit them in budget. You could find some used coupe 19" wheels for your sedan, they look much nicer than the oem sedan wheels, or other choices over in the classifieds.
Have fun w/ your mods and we're here to help turn it in to a full blown addiction

Throw up a picture of your car also will help since you're after looks. Lots of people with good suggestions once they know what they are working with

My vote:
OEM lip
OEM rear spoiler
swift springs
hotchkis sways
Interior/license plate LED bulbs (Diode Dynamics or VLED's are popular)
Stillen Gen 3 intake (if you can install yourself).

Also might consider investing in a clear bra to keep the paint looking nice.

Congrats on the car and welcome, glad you got your man card back after the minivan :P

Ask you can tell its in the opinion of the poster I would have to say,

OEM front lip
Sways
Tints
Debadged - g37x
Exhaust or HFC
Coilovers
LED Bulbs Diodes forsure!
6k HID

Also you can save some cash by buying some items used! P.S this is the same list for my car getting pretty close on doing all.

Dont go for coilovers unless you plan on tracking this car. stick with springs if you want to lower, coilovers are a waste of money if your just street driving IMO.

I would say..

tint
coupe sport wheels
hotchkis sway bars
eibach springs
HPS silicone intake hoses
K&N filters
HFC

Are coilovers a waste if you're going to be driving in snow?

Ha ha, no. That is so wrong. Any time you improve the handling characteristics of a car, you appreciate those changes 24/7, whether you're on the track or just driving to work. But you did say "in my opinion", so there's that.

No, but some CO's are more susceptible to the effects of road salt than others. If you're serious about getting coilovers, research that consideration... along with how long you can expect them to last before a rebuild or replacement.

I just installed Swift springs an am very happy with the look and road feel. They were $366 CAD, and I installed myself to make sure it's done right.

Front Lip
Eibach Springs (Mild Drop)
Tints (if needed)
Debadge
Spoiler, either OEM or paint the chrome trunk spoiler - White.
Upgrade fogs (HID or Replacement Nokya bulb)

Save the rest for wheels in the future. No need to blow it ALL just now. Start of slow and progressively move forward.
