Good for you, PENROSE. How many miles until the next oil change?
I agree...it's a nice car, but still a "fancied up" Nissan.

Don't know why there is a distinction between paying $40,000 for a sedan or coupe though....?

I'm thinking of 5,000 mile intervals. This is the first time I had the oil changed in this car. The dealer changed it with synthetic right before I bought it. That's why I stuck with synthetic. I have put 5,000 miles on it since I bought it.

And I agree about the glorified Nissan comment 100%. This car is nice....but come on....it ain't all that. I would never have paid $40,000+ for this car. For that money I would have a long (long) list of cars I would rather have.

Don't get me wrong...I like the car. But not for $40k. I bought mine because I thought it was a good bang for your buck car (when bought USED).

I got my 2010 X Sedan with 12,000 miles for @ $26,500. Prem Pkg. Blue Slate. Thought that was a pretty fair deal.

I sold my 2010 Autobahn GTI right before I got the G.

With all that said.......I can't wait till the MK7 GTI gets here in about a year and a half because I will be first in line to get one. Until then, I will enjoy this G37. Great car. Already put an ARK on, and Swifts and 19's will be on in a month or two.

And they were done in less than 15 min.....cleaned my windows....gave it a quick sweeparoo with the shop vac....checked filters....tire pressure...etc. I watched them the whole time. They added exactly 5.2qts

I really don't think its a big deal (going to Jiffy Lube). They change oil for a living. That's all they do. All day. Why should I think that I can do it better?
^ bang on. if you pay attention to what they are doing, using a quick-change place that you trust can be a very cost and time effective way to perform routine oil change services. oil changes are about as basic as you can get. would i trust a quick-change for a gearbox replacement? no. fluid changes - of course.

if i don't feel like DIY, i frequent a local quick-change place that i've used for years. i trust them, they know me and my attention to detail. i always bring my own oil & filter and they charge me $20 for the labour. i even go down into the "pit" if i feel so inclined to watch what they are doing. they welcome this without hesitation - it's a great way to have a look at things under there (don't know if their insurance carrier would like that)! i doubt many dealers would allow this much access.

Some people get their self-image all mixed up with how much things cost. Best to just ignore people like that.

As for the price diff between coupe and sedan... I think Infiniti does it because they can, is all.

Hmm. I was thinking 7500 mile intervals, but like you, it's a guess. Wish I had a straight answer for this one. If you find one, PENROSE, please post it.

That does seem a very fair deal. I bought my 2011 used as well, with only 4,000 miles on it, and with a sizeable savings over the same car new. So I relate, and good for you.

You've also aged yourself to where I don't feel so old anymore.

It's all good, so rather than saving Jiffy Lube coupons I can get senior discounts on Las Vegas Buffets Not quite there yet though

I don't want to do it. I don't feel like it. And its not because I'm lazy or incapable of doing it.

And I do realize its a $40,000 car. Whoop-dee-freakin-doo.

I took my car to Jiffy Lube.

And drove it 400 miles to the beach the very next day.

My car has not exploded yet.
there have been bad reports about employees not doing oil changes right. google it.

You might save money with a coupon, but I still rather do something that simple myself. You do it once 5k, maybe 2-3 times a year. If you want something done right, do it yourself. It gives me a piece of mind some idiot didn't mess with my car. $40k car comment, you spent the money might as well take care of your investment.

Purchase price is irrelevant. I'm looking out my office window now at a parking lot filled with neglected Audi's, unwashed & unwaxed Mercs, etc. In fact, you could almost make the generalization that the more a car costs the less attention it typically receives.

Unless Car Guy... which 99% of these Audi, Merc and Caddy owners aren't.

"$40K car" is just a phrase people throw around to feel self-important. Personally, I don't discuss my salary, the cost of my home, or the cost of my car. That's just the way I was brought up.
