Thoughts on what to do with stock exhaust

I recently replaced the exhaust on my '12 6mt sedan with an aftermarket system CBE.

I'm debating if I should keep the stock or put it up for sale and recoup a few $$

The car is ~6 months old, 3K miles, so all pieces are in good shape. Shipping this however would be a headache. Maybe keep it around for when I sell the car and return it to stock. Otoh, by that time it will probably be prohibitive to remove the exhaust as most pieces will probably be rotted to some extent, especially the connections at the cat.

Thoughts? Is this thing even worth $250?

Save it in case you sell your car. Stock sells better and for more.

I would save it. It would be difficult to sell the oem exhaust. Doable but difficult

Are you hard up for cash? If yes, then try and sell it. After shipping you won't get much though. And I'm not so sure any one will want it anyway?

Do yo plan on keeping the car for the long haul? If so....try and sell it to make some room in your garage. If not....keep it so you can put it back on when you sell/trade your car....because you WILL get most of your money back by selling the aftermarket catback. But not the stock catback.

Seriously....who is going to buy the stock exhaust??

Who's going to buy a stock exhaust? Someone who wants to sell their car and bring it back to stock condition

My point is however, lets say I keep the car 5 years, chances are, getting the aftermarket exhaust off would likely require a trip to the shop and a torch. Not something I can easily remove in the garage with the car on jackstands. At that point, would the exhaust even be worth anything to sell. Stainless steel or not, the pipes will still corrode and rot.

The aftermarket exhaust is the invidia q300. It's not overly loud, and could possibly even pass for stock until you really get on throttle. I guess if I could get $250 for stock, it'd be worth to get rid of (to a local buyer).

I still have my stock exhaust, doesn't take up much room in the garage. FWIW, I had no problems taking off the y pipe sections of my invidia after having it on for over a year. Bolts at the cats came off without much effort, no need for PB or anything. Hardware doesn't show any signs of rusting or corroding. 5 years down the road, it probably won't be too bad to remove either.

^^Wonder which is worse, corrosion from being so close to the ocean or from salt used in the winters around here.

That stuff really does a number to car bottoms. Being garaged is a bit better, but it still has an effect.

North Texas! Don't have to worry about corrosion from being close to water (low humidity here) - don't have to worry about salt from the winter roads (I lived in NJ most of my life - so I know what you mean). Only thing you have to worry about is the car melting Not sure I'll ever get used to 110 degrees in the shade...

Anyway - when I replaced the exhaust on my prev vehicle (350zr) - I tried to sell my orig exhaust. Months and months...no takers. Finally I listed it as 'Free to a good home' and someone took it off of my hands. Oh well...

Didn't think about salted roads in the winter. Definitely worse than a little sand from the beach every now and then.Did
