My previous car was a 2003 Nissan Maxima SE 6MT. I bought it new as the original owner, and modified it nicely over the next 9+ years. At one point, I got it into my head to pursue amber colored fog lights. I tried it with a vinyl overlay on the lens, and that looked dumb. (The car was Sheer Silver.) Then I tried to paint the inner reflector surface, and that looked pink. It was very embarrassing. Then I tried a variety of bulbs, both incandescent and LED... and gave up. It just wasn't going to happen. I was sad.

But now I have a new car. And it's white.

So I had some of the amber vinyl left over, and cut out a quick piece, just to get an idea of what it would look like. It's crude, and purely there for some perspective. I'm not saying I'm going to do this thing. And I appreciate that the functional nature of the fog goes mostly out the window, in favor of pure decoration. I get all that. At this point I'm just eyeballing the idea.

If I pursue this any further, I would probably have to figure out how to remove the fogs and do it up off the car. There's got to be a write-up here somewhere. Anyone here familiar with removing the fogs and want to spoonfeed me a little?

It's got to be easier than removing the front grille. I played with that this weekend, because I'm planning on having the grille painted to look like the OEM Midnight Grille. It took like an hour of d1cking around in order to remove it. However, now that I've done it, I could probably do it again in 3 minutes.

And yeah, I know. That reads kind of weird.

Not as bad when lit as I was guessing. Still, the amber lens would give a nice, complementary spot of color on Moonlight White. It's kind of appealing with the chrome trim ring, and New York's amber (orange) license plate, which has to be there.

Thinking... thinking...

Does the G use standard H3 Halogen fog-light bulbs?

Looks like nice work, if someone is looking to go CF on the fog trim piece. I'm not, but there it is anyway. How exactly do you remove the trim piece? Hmm...

i actually like it , A LOT , i think it matches with the orange accenting in the headlights and i think it goes well because its the Sport front bumper .... i was thinking of doing the same thing on my LP g37s

At the moment, I've got one side done, working on the second. Figure since I already have the wrap left over from years ago, and it's a good learning experience figuring out how to dismantle the fogs... might as well go all in.

The lens wrapped well enough. There are some very, very tiny bubbles. Almost imperceptible. But I'm leaning. Certainly pulling the lens off the car and doing this inside is a must. Doing it on the car would be really awkward.

If I finish up and keep it, pics when done.

And if it's a keeper, I have zero idea how this will hold up over time.

Uh oh, be careful, wrapping w/ vinyl can be very addictive
Should look pretty cool. Seeing your factory fogs apart like that has me thinking I could retrofit them into my 09 journey bumper mesh, something I'd like to do down the road. How far into the mesh does the bulb and socket actually go?

The mesh? You mean the cross-hatched plastic cover? It clips right into the bumper skin, and the chrome trim clips into the black cover.

Here's the lens wrapped. Kind of crude, still. But good enough considering that the chrome trim hides the edges.
