gas mileage

The OP prefers driving his automatic, V6 Mustang more than a G37. Just let that one roll around in your head for a moment before you start laughing.
After 4K miles, I'm averaging 18.8 mpg with my 6MT. I like to drive it hard, because it's a rewarding car to drive. I really don't expect any better mileage than this, unless I take a long trip. But that's what the Honda family car is for.
Since all the OP did was complain about his situation in the first post, instead of asking an actual question, my comment here is: you knew what you were getting into when you bought the G37. And if you didn't, then you should have.

I didn't say that I didn't like driving my g37. I said that I enjoyed driving the mustang more. The advantage of the g is that I can put full sized humans in the back seat, which as you probably know you can't do in a mustang. Also I only drive the mustang half a year, as it's a convertible.

The G is by far a nicer car, but don't sleep on the V6 Mustang. In terms of performance it's right there with us.

It's a no brainier to us G enthusiasts, but Ford's V6 has come a long way. I'm sure it's a fun car to drive. This isn't a 1990 mustang V6. Just sayin'.

Just a shmidgit on the Stang - cobra or nothing... any Stang under the Cobra model might be able to hang w/ a G on trap speeds/straight aways, but nothing like the G when not going in a straight line... and anyone who bought a G only for speed should have looked elsewhere..it's a luxury sports/performance car, not pure sports car...can we all agree on that already...lol
Back to the point, I get 21.1 mixed highway/street and I tend to gas it when I have a chance to. AND, I drive on the 405 parking lot in LA...so anything over 20 is pretty darn good...All highway driving, even with elevation changes, i've gotten a best of 27 mpg averaging 80 mph...

I know this didn't start as a gas mileage thread...but...
Took a drive out of DFW to Thackerville, OK today (read: Winstar Casino). Reset the MPG after I started it in the garage (home). Drove to and from OK - checked when I got home - somewhat surprised to see 28.9mpg. This was a bit better than I expected.
Not much traffic - 75mph speed limit (which means many/most were doing around 80-85). Mostly highway...
Anyway...I was impressed. I normally get @19mpg to/from work.

Maybe so - but my daily commute is a completely different situation. Today was open highway. My daily commute putts along at @35mph for the first 5 miles...then gridlock for the next 5...then opens up for 2 miles....honestly I think I'm lucky to be getting 19...

I drove a V6 'stang automatic while I was staying in Illinois last year. The best I can determine the auto is noticably slower than either the 6-speed 'stang or the G37 (with auto or manual). It also did not seem anywhere near as smooth or refined as the G. Of course it probably cost about $15K less, so not really a fair comparison. BTW, my G gets 19 - 20 in town. If I get out on the highway it jumps dramatically - best I saw on a trip was around 32.

OK, so now this is another lame gas mileage thread. It's official. Here's my 2-cents on the new topic: why the hell did Infiniti put this active vertical mileage gauge in the status screen? It bounces up and down between 5 and 30 mpg like a freaking yo-yo.
And my point is, who cares? We already know what kind of mileage the car gets. If I wanted to hyper-mile my car, then I'd be driving one that was better suited to caring what kind of mileage it gets.
Such a pointless feature in the NAV System. Totally, stupidly pointless.

I get about 21-22 mix of highway and street and I am heavy footed about 30% of the time.
First time I saw one of those gauges was on an old Mercedes it used to say economy and it had a analog dial sweeping left to right over a little red mountain inside a rectangle. As a passenger it was nice novelty to look at as a driver completely useless.
Just my useless 2 cents to add into the thread theme.
