Sedan with Sports Pkg or not...

Just wondering for those who opted to get the sports pkg how they liked them, and also how they compared to the Sedans w/o this pkg. I did test drive one with and one without and it seemed the S pkg did handle the winding roads better around 85mph then the regular sedan. Thoughts???

Thanks in advance!

If your not getting an awd model, definitely get the sports package. It handles much better you will not regret it and the fact it is less than $2k makes it well worth the money.

I had an 07X for 4 years. The S handles better in the turns. You instantly notice lighter more responsive handling in the front. The S also has different rear tuned suspension and different steering ratio which contribute to better feed back to the driver.
I cant comment on the difference in feel between a Base/Journey and an S as I have only driven an X and an S.

Good choice.

The best feature (IMO) - the slightly quicker steering ratio. This - combined with the stiffer suspension - makes for a much more 'tossable' car.

Good Luck.

I guess it depends on where you coming to , if you need performance then def get the spkg, however the ride might be stiffer so you might wanted consider into that

That's just it - the ride isn't significantly different. A bit more impact harshness - mostly caused by the shorter sidewalls. But overall a more responsive vehicle.

One downside - the RE050's are a bit noisy. Can't wait to replace them...

IMO the best features on the S are the bigger brakes, LSD, and much, much better tires. The stock Goodyear RSAs have no place on a car of this type (unless it has a 75mph speed governor attached)

I would have to agree. Looking at a set of Super Sport pretty soon.

I have an X with the sport package (appearance only) and to see what I was missing, I've taken a RWD 6MT sport out for test drives a couple times during oil changes at the dealer.

To be honest, other than it being manual I couldn't notice much of a difference. The steering may have been a little better, but didn't really notice all that much. No difference in braking either and the handling was marginally better at best. For the most part, it just felt a tad lighter (200lbs lighter than the X i believe).

I have a feeling most of the differences can really only be seen at the extremes on a track.

I have a RWD Coupe and Sedan both with sport. Wouldn't have it any other way. Only drawback IMO are that the sport seats sacrifice some comfort for better support.

Yes - the non-Sport seats are more comfortable.

First... what BB said. Seats are not as comfy, but well worth the trade off. Second, IMO the sports package is worth it just for the brake upgrade. 4 piston calipers up front, 2 piston in the rear.

What's the use in going fast if you can't stop when you need to?

If you really enjoy a car that handles like a dream (but rides just a tad rough), get some KW coilovers.

Just got my wife a Lexus. If you want a luxurious ride... go with that. If you want that edge of your seat thrill ride, get the sports pkg on the G.

... or a Mustang GT500.

Boss 302 might fit the bill too if you're on a tighter budget
