Consult III on Ebay

Hey guys. Have been seeing the consult III up on ebay (without the laptop but has the software) on ebay for quite some time now. It ships from China and the seller has great reviews. The price is about $500. Has anyone bought one of these or know someone that did? Seems odd that Nissan / Inifiniti would sell for $14K with a laptop and this only. The laptop couldnt be more than $2K.

It seems to match all the items from the Infiniti Tech Info Sales site.

I have it and it works. It will detect Infiniti/Nissan specific codes that aftermarket scan readers cannot. It could also perform tests to help you diagnose problems. You will not be able to program intelligent keys unless you have the Security Card.

It DOES NOT update navigation maps for 08-09 Infinitis. That is a different cable and requires access to Nissan ASIST, which only dealerships have.

The reason it's cheap is because it's not a genuine unit. It's a fake copy of real thing. However, it works just like the real thing. It only works on windows xp.

So this wont run on Windows 7? That sucks... Do you think it could do the Transmission reprogram? And other such TSB's that come out? Tired of dealing with Dealers on such things... Just too much effort playing games with them...

Sounds like it can do some of the same things Osiris can do.. Why not get that? You can datalog, monitor, check and clear any and all codes with cipher, not to mention the benefits
Of correctly calibrating the A/F, timing, and throttle response

Can the Osiris reprogram the car? Infiniti allows you to download the latest programs based on ECU from thier web site and I want to be able to upload those. I think you can only do with the Nissan Consult software.

A lot of these updates are shipped via cd-rom from Infiniti. You would need that first.

The updates are actually available on Nissan tech website. It is available to anyone but each update is like $20.

If you have Windows 7 Professional (Enterprise & Ultimate, too) you can download XP Mode, which is essentially a stripped down version of Virtual PC and an installation of XP Pro.

You also have the option of using VMware Workstation for PCs, VMware Fusion for Macs, or VirtualBox for either of those. But those, you need your own license for Windows XP.

All of the above will work with Consult, though I prefer VMware Workstation due to having absolute control over what devices get mapped to the virtual machine (IE: USB or Serial ports, etc)
