I agree, I think we should have side-markers. Or at the very least, turn signals in the mirrors. Heck, I thought that was a common trend... but not for us, it seems.

So how come this G37 doesn't have a shark fin? Is it because it's an 09 without NAV?

 

If it doesn't have the Sat/Nav pack then it would not have a shark fin. My 07X didn't have one either.
I'm also wondering, do they have XM/Sirius Sat radio in China? If not then they wouldn't need a shark fin and could make due with a smaller Nav antenna in the car.

 

Is it the XM/Sirius radio that necessitates the shark fin, and not the Navigation? I suppose that make sense, seeing as how even phones have GPS controllers in them.

Infiniti has never installed stock turn signal lamps on the v36,only side markers. Side markers can also be easily installed:
