want to make sedan sound like stock coupe

well the title says it...

Just picked up my 2012 G36 6MT sport sedan, and the exhaust just is not loud enough....

I want the car to sound exactly like the coupe exhaust, and nothing louder.... Just wondering what my options are. If it is replace the full cat back, please provide models (but remember, i do not want something louder than the coupe). I guess if I went this route, and increase in HP would be the cherry on top!

However, just curious if there are any other ways to make the exhaust louder by not replacing the entire cat back.... (headers, test pipes, delete cat, etc...)

Thanks guys!

There is an axle back that should make it sound better. I don't know why they made it so quiet with the S. I had a 09 Vert and it sounded way better.

as far as i know, you will not be able to make it sounds exactly like a coupe without major modifications at the rear end to fit the coupe rear section. lots of G35 guys have tried this, some successfully, but it does take a lot of work. i think the trunk floor looks different so trunk mods are required.

most guys just go for a different sound that can be had by swapping out the stock sedan exhaust. there are numerous options available. check out the TECH section.

I also feel like they changed the intake to make it quieter too.

There was a seller on ebay selling a relatively cheap cbe exhaust for the sedans.

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

Looks like they don't currently have any active listings, but you could try contacting the seller to see if they have more. From the sound clips, it sounds louder than the stock S, but not obnoxiously loud. Good luck!

pretty much a cbe would give you the sound your looking for. A sedan with a cbe and nothing else is pretty modest in terms of sound levels. When I had my ARK on my sedan it was very close to the coupe sound while being a little deeper and slightly louder on WOT.

The Tanabe mufflers give that slight increase in sound, I have them installed on my '08 S sedan.

The only other thing I have found on here is by getting a HFC with the stock cat back. I don't know if it works or not, but I can let you know soon. I bought some and they were going to be on this week...but so far its not looking like it.

Tanabe or invidia are the 2 quietest options.

telling him to install a catback isnt going to achieve what hes looking for.

i was on this same quest when I had a sedan, unfortunately none of the CBE's i heard came even CLOSE to the coupe.

your best bet is to install berk HFC's.......its the closest thing ive heard.
