Question about fix-it ticket on another car

This past weekend I sold my another car - RSX, now last year I recevied a fix-it ticket which cost about $25 + inspection fee for missing of front license plate, this past weekend sold to the buyer, my questions is, do i still need to pay for this ticket? I know there is a stupid inspection fee, so am i liable for that fee? all i wanted is to clear this ticket asap.

thanks

in anycase, i would think you are responsible for whatever the fees were/are. it probably went up a lot by now. you were the owner of the car at the time the ticket was given.

right, I actually postponed to court appearance, because quite honestly I thought I could fight this ticket because the RSX front plate holder isn't secure enough, however since sold my car this quick, this could be an issue. I wont fight against this ticket, just simply to pay? is that a delay?

I'd just go to the court date and tell them you no longer have the car so you can't get it signed off. The worse that can happen is you paying the fine you're willing to pay now. So you really can't lose, who knows they might drop it since the cars gone. If you pay before the court date they won't refund you if the judge advises you that you didn't have to pay.

the court is horrible, phone number listed isn't working at all.
well, i'm thinking tomorrow morning just go there and have cat inspect the car and i could pay off the bill.

another $50 donated to careless court

Noooo, that's not the worse that can happen. The ticket required him to fix the discrepancy and PROVE he did so in order to qualify for the $25 fee. Otherwise, he can pay a fine and be done with it (In CA, that fine amount is on the paperwork they send you... it says $25 if you get it signed off, and $XXX if you don't).

Since he sold the car and never proved he fixed the issue, they can charge him the fine amount as if the issue was not fixed.

There is no fee. They check to ensure the discrepancy was fixed and sign the ticket. It also requires the officer's ID number.

I'd go to court and explain your situation. The judge may just charge you the $25, but they can charge you the full fine.

Yeah I'm from So Cal also and I have had this happen, i sold a car with a pending fix it ticket, the court told me I no longer owed the fine for no front plate since i wasnt the owner anymore. The courts did advise me to bring the bill of sale, which I did, but the judge never asked for it.

But then again I didnt extend the ticket from the get go, and it wasn't a year old so his case may be different. I think I had like 90 days or something since the courts there are so backed up, and during that time I sold the car.

I wasn't sure which state he was in.
And most fix it tickets in So Cal DO require a fee and stamp given inside by the agency who signs it. due to the fact some officers we're signing off tickets for friends and family without them correcting the violations so the courts got tired of it, now they have the sign off & stamp, no officers have the stamps at home so they can't do favors anymore.
Pomona court doesn't charge a fee for tint tickets (may be the same for other violations) while CHP, Walnut Sheriffs and Covina P.D. do.
I hope that helps OP.

But this was a few years ago, I'm not sure if policies have changed.

at this point, all you can do go to the court and talk to the sheriff who usually inspects the car. They should be able to tell you. If not, you just have to stand in that traffic violation line and talk to the court clerk.

Can you pls elaborate the "charge full fine"?

how about if I just send in a check of $25 plus printed photo of the license plate well mounted on my car? will that dismiss the case?

thanks in advance for all kindly advice
