Funny thing is the Altima looks better than the LE electric car
infiniti designed. The rear on that car doesnt flow to well.

Found the video. Watch it in HD. This car looks a *lot* like a baby Maxima. And the front grille is really, really tacky.

I stand corrected...other than the grille and the giant chrome piece on the rear, it's not a bad looking car.

I agree, the grille is very ugly. Otherwise a good looking car.

I was wrong. I went to the NY auto show today to check out the new Altima. The grille looked a lot better in person then from photos. I think Nissan is going to sell it like hot cakes.

I'm with 6mtg37s. I might consider one of these also a couple years down the road.

Fixed, in case that was an oversight.

nope...i have no problems owning an Altima after having a G. just as I don't have a problem owning an Optima 2.0T or a Sonata 2.0T as well. I think they are all very competent cars for the money. If I need a luxury car with the prestige status, I'll turn to the A6. But for a daily commuter car, the Altima is very sufficient with great gas mileage.

JK, sniper. I couldn't resist the joke.

Everyone's priorities are personal, and the high-mpg, high-tech Altima checks off a lot of boxes on the list...

...just not the ones in my "must have" column.

Ya, mpg is not a priority in a lot of areas. Although I would think NY gas prices are pretty high. Premium is about $4.50/gal here, and with the traffic, it really sucks.

I think I paid $4.25 today for 91 octane. And my typical driving still isn't getting me over 19 mpg... so we're all in the same boat there, buddy.

Personally, I don't mind the gas prices because we don't drive much. But my 10 year old Maxima was quite nicely modified, and still getting over 25 mpg. In other words, I notice the hit, believe me.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I hope Nissan doesn't omit features from the 2013 Altima in the 2014 G. The 2014 G better have the following features found in the 2013 Altima.

  • Individual TPMS
  • Easy fill tire inflation
  • Turn signal markers in the side view mirrors
  • Blind spot warning
  • Lane departure warning (LDW)
  • Moving object detection
It should also have the features from various technology packages in previous G sedans and other Infiniti models.
  • All the features in the current G sedan technology package (intelligent cruise control, brake assist, advanced climate control system, rain sensing wipers, pre crash seat belts)
  • Adaptive headlights (which was removed from the G sedan technology package in 2011)
  • Front collision warning system
I just turned in my 2009 G37xS sedan with premium, navigation, sport and technology packages and leased a new 2012 G37xS sedan with premium, navigation and sport packages. I couldn't find any dealers with G37x sedans that had all 4 packages (premium, navigation, sport, technology). They all told me that nobody asks for the technology package. If they renamed the technology package to be technology/safety package, I'd bet more people would want it.

Even the 2010 anniversary edition sedan, 2011 limited edition sedan and 2012 limited edition sedan only included the premium, navigation and sport packages but no technology package. Considering that those cars were loaded with extra appearance features it seems silly to me to omit the $1200 technology package.

^ The Infiniti line-up of the future will have (hopefully mostly as options) all of those things you mentioned. If you take a look at the JX options they are there so other future Infiniti vehicle should also get most of them. To not have them, while the competition does, would be shooting themselves in the foot.

The other thing that's important is they do remain optional. These things can add a fair amount of unwanted weight and to the driving enthusiast that's no good.

I like your idea of calling it something like the 'technology/safety package'. The down side of that (to put a spin on it) is that buyers may see it as though Infiniti doesn't care about their customers safety enough to automatically provide such features in every car.
Similar to when airbags were introduced and many people started buying cars where the airbags were standard and avoiding cars that they were not standard equipment. Probably not though
